An interesting video. I remember seeing these occarisionally when I was young - I was puzzle why some said Floride and others, Caravelle - Even though the Caravelle is probably a better car, with its purposeful looking vents on the side - and If you have to have a roof, the more graceful roofline, it's a much purer design. While watching, I was already thinking that my Megane CC was its spiritual successor and then, later in the video, I find you concur. My CC is a 2007 and was 12 years old when I bought it. I didn't expect it to drive well and thought that it would probably be troublesome but, I was wrong on both counts. Almost 5 years later, and with double the mileage it had on it when I spent my 900 euro - I love it.
they called italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro to design the golf . when he arrived in VW he found a Fiat 128 completely disassembled. they told him they would try to replicate the engineering as close as possible but could not keep costs as low. that's how i know the golf was born
They still build the Espace (although its technically an SUV, but thats predominantly styling more than a radical phyiscal change), but they don't make it in RHD as market is too small.

Были у меня Эспайсы 1986 ,1993. 2008 годов. Все комфортные машины ,главное оцинкованные и пластиковые , Самый лучший был 1993 года с мотором 2.1 тд , надёжен, легко ремонтируется . Езжу исключительно на французах у которых комфорт выше чем у других машин .

Incredible as american car industry were such ahead in quality and design that time back and how european catch up and today is much better than american auto-industry.
We hardly noticed the Floride because it managed to rot way at breakneck speed, even faster than the Dauphine on which it was based. I never saw a Floride which was not riddled with rust.
The 1.1 GTL was awful. 5 forward gears and would only go uphill in 3 out of the 5 of them (maybe!). Exhaust was a 4 into 1 which stopped the engine performing better and the back box was actually under the front nsf wing completely exposed to elements. It was of course... a comfy armchair. My mum's 957cc Fiesta was a much better car even though it only had 4 gears.
in 1968 when I was seven one of my uncles bought one of these. Him and his gorgeous wife looked so stylish driving around the streets of north Tehran. Now he’s 93 with Alzheimers can’t even remember the car.
I have the 3rd generation with 2.0 8V engine --> 1:10. Purchased for €500 in 2016. Engine is not an innovation (still without automatic valve clearance compensation in 1999). The Renault electrics and chassis are generally terrible. The spring plate was rusted through and had to be replaced with a used one. These have become extremely rare, since just a few years after the generation change at Renault, they are no longer available as spare parts (wanted obsolescence?). Repairs at Renault are extremely expensive (also with the Scenic). Otherwise mine is still driving (as a second car). TÜV until 2024. Last emissions test of the control loop test only passed with alternative method.
