This channel is dedicated to providing entertaining and quality miniature painting video tutorials. These videos are mainly focused on board games that I enjoy playing, or miniatures that I find particularly interesting.
My videos are targeted towards beginning painters, but intermediate to advanced painters may still find some interesting content here. I cover many techniques, including: - Priming - Base coating - Layering - Drybrushing - Wet blending - Dark lining - Applying washes - Non-metallic metal (NMM) - Finishing
Occasionally, I do more targeted videos focusing on a particular technique, or cover other aspects of board gaming like reviews or unboxings.
I hope you find this channel both interesting and helpful. If you do, please Subscribe and enable Notifications!

Not sure when I'll get around to releasing it for Android. I've got some other projects taking priority as well as life. When my group plays, we use an iPad (but I can't release that version because I don't feel like paying Apple money just so I can release a free app).
@boardwithpaint i understand you have made an amazing companion app for the board game hopefully I can get it to work on a samgsung tablet ill let you know how it goes thanks for the reply
This is from the Batman the Animated Series: Shadow of the Bat board game by IDW. Unfortunately, right after they shipped the Kickstarter, IDW nixed their games division, so the game is out of print and likely will never be printed again. You might try on eBay if you want to score a copy. www.kickstarter.com/projects/idwgames/batman-the-animated-series-adventures
This was part of the Mythic Tier add-on in the Hasbro Pulse campaign when they relaunched HeroQuest. I don't believe its possible to get them anymore, however many of the expansions have alternate gender characters. Frozen Horror has a female barbarian Jungles of Delthrak has both a male and female dwarf Mage of the Mirror has a male elf Unfortunately, I don't believe there's a female Wizard in an expansion (yet)
Fantastic. I'm thinking about getting back into painting miniatures after the release of my nostalgia box of joy HeroQuest. About a hundred years ago when I first started paining minis they were metal (lead originally) and paint was unforgiving enamel. I note a lot of painters use Citadel products; are they superior to others?
Citadel is made by Games Workshop (makers of Warhammer) so they have a pretty dominant market share and are probably more widely available than other brands. I don't necessarily think their paints are surperior (and I generally hate the paint pots they come in). I just happen to own lots of Citadel because its what I bought when I got started - it's what my local game store had. I generally try not to buy them anymore, though, unless I'm trying to color match because their paints are more expensive than other brands (and the pots suck). Their washes are great, though, so I will continue to pick those up. I'm really starting to fall in love with AK Interactive paints. I don't have tons of colors, but I think they cover really nicely and have a really easy to work with consistency.
Sure, you can do the same thing with a rattle can primer. I just prefer the airbrush so I don't need to take things outside to prime them. If you want to do the zenithal (dark with white highlights), you can use something like Chaos Black to prime, then do an all over drybrush of white to pick out those highlights.
@@boardwithpaint I have an airbrush but never used it yet, so was a bit reluctant. Been trying to find out which primers are best, white, black or grey and there doesn't seem to be one answer!
I figured. I wondered why they chose to use a "fish man" instead of something like an ogre - but I guess they knew the Ogre Horde expansion could be coming later (which it did!).
To my knowledge, this was only offered as one of the Mythic Tier rewards for the Hasbro Pulse campaign when HQ was released in 2021. Unfortunately, I don't think it's available any more unless you can find someone selling the mythic tier version on Ebay or something.
I google how to fix warped miniatures Google presents me this video Google only shows a loop of a random 5 seconds in this video I click the video It presents the video in crap quality in some crappy barebones youtube player I HAVE TO CLICK ON A BUTTON, TO VIEW A PAGE, TO CLICK ANOTHER BUTTON TO COME HERE TO THE SOURCE RU-vid VIDEO WHO MADE THIS?! THE MENU DESIGNER OF MODERN WARFARE 2 2022?!
No - the rules are a little different in this version. Instead of building a wall with a tower behind it covering the treasure, you build a single contiguous castle. This version has an optional rule where each side has a treasure card they can hide behind, or under, their castle, and if the opponent is able to land ammo on the card, they win.
Unfortunately, I don't think you can, unless you can find a copy of BtAS: Shadow of the Bat on eBay somewhere. IDW games went out of business just after this game was published, which is unfortunate because I love the minis and the game itself is pretty solid.
I just paid £100 for heroquest and I love it. The nostalgia is like a drug I can't get enough.i played it in 1991 the sad thing is I don't have friends that play but I can use the companion app..love it thanks for doing this
I guess on mine its one of those rare "metal gourds". After Googling this I noticed lots of images where the gourds are decorated with artwork or Chinese characters. Maybe I'll eventually do a follow up where I repaint this. Thanks for the info!
Just released a new version of this app with a load of new features. Unfortunately, this video is now going to be pretty out of date. If I reshoot a new demo video, I will post a link here.
I don't really know how to contact you other than your comments. If I scanned the minion cards for Divinity board game would that help a lot with updating Divine Helper? In a a month or two I am probably going to play nightmare mode and would love for Divine Helper to support that mode.
Hi Brody - I sent you an email response. In the meantime I've got some updates in progress and nightmare mode will be the next update after that. I don't think it will take too long to add those features. Just need to find the time!
Thank you so much for this. I just received the game last week and your videos and advice/comments are helping immensely. I have never done miniature painting before therefore it's highly appreciated!
Hello i am confused with this tecnic. Why do you prime in grey/black for then drybrush all figure in white? Why not prime in white and wash it black? Are there any significant results in doing all that drybrush?
That's a great question! The white drybrush actually provides a couple of benefits. 1. If you primed white and washed black, the end result would be grey with black recesses because a wash always stains the underlying color, even on raised/flat surfaces. This would prevent your highlights from being as bright as they could be. 2. Drybrushing tends to hit edges and raised surfaces, which gives you sort of a free edge-highlight. I'd also note that most folks would slapchop WITHOUT doing a zenithal prime (black on full mini, they grey/white from above). The only reason I didn't do it this way was because I typically do a zenithal prime on my models, and at the time I primed them I didn't know I was going to slapchop these (I don't think I even owned the speedpaints at the time). Hope this helps!
I did actually think about that, but I opted to use the same color to keep everything cohesive. I also tend to just reuse what's already on my palette.
You're right, on a typical scythe that's true. But for whatever reason, these sculpts put the sharp part on the outside. This also matches the card artwork. I guess I really didn't think about it at the time...
I hear ya. The original audio track had lots of my heavy breathing since I was so close to the camera, so part of the reason for the music is to mask that and hide the edits I had to make to get rid of it.
