Why are boars able to breed so fast? I’ve lived in this small town in Illinois for three years. And as of this year boars have become an issue. They came last year and there’s already triple the number
I once sat in a super sketch tree stand with this guy - lots of fun and very cozy, but those straps could have snapped at anytime! This overbuilt trailer stand is the complete opposite!
I think the scanner mode is 1.3x, great handheld I have it and the flir bresch - I only wish it had the breach’s ‘Sepia’ color palette which is the best of all time and makes it so easy to differentiate real heat signatures in urban environments
Great video! Have you looked at the sidekick 640? Really like to hear your opinion how it compares to the others in this review. I like your honesty in talking about these things.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your comments. This reply may get a little long... I have never held or looked through a Sidekick, but Armasight has had a troubled history and almost nobody sells them anymore. From what I could find online it's for a couple of reasons. 1) When you look at the specs and their manicured videos in ideal conditions, a lot of customers feel duped because the image quality that the end user gets isn't as good in high humidity real world applications as you would get from other comparable options in the market. In other words, it looks like crap for your money. Again, I haven't looked through one myself, this is just what my digging around has lead me to believe but knowing the sub-par quality that FLIR used to put out and that Armasight was owned by FLIR previously, it doesn't sound far fetched. 2) Armasight is a house brand for Optics Planet, and OP will commonly sell things below dealer MAP (Minimum Advertised Price). So if your local dealer bought Armasight scopes to keep on the shelf, they couldn't sell them cause everyone would buy them for significantly cheaper on OP. And Armasight doesn't care cause they and OP are both owned by the same parent company and that keeps all the money in house for them. I hope that was helpful. Have FUN!!!
Big huge thanks for taking the time for that lengthy reply. Helped me quite a bit in my decision. Leaning towards the the RH25 . Funny to me that the RH25 and a sub 40mk seems to have a better image than the Rix with its sub 25mk .
Thank you for the information, brother. I'm looking to upgrade my helmet mounted thermal and the lack of an external power supply is a deal breaker for me. I'll probably go with the RIX. Should be able to run a usb to that.
I've had a Pvs14 for like 7years and love it but a buddy bit the bullet and bought a dual band setup ( MH25 and Pvs14) and i been interested in the RH25. It seems like the most sensible cost , performance and versitility option . Thanks for the video it cemented my thoughts on what i should get
Hi great job it’s your cousin beckah your doing very good and hope to see y’all soon and tell the kids that me pops and gammi and Christian said hi love ya hope to see y’all soon❤
i don't own a rifle mounted thermal, but am in the market for a modular helmet mounted thermal. it is imperative that the thermal i buy have QD modularity to work on a rifle as well as a helmet. which is why i am looking at the Iray Rico micro 640
IRays Jerry YM 2.0 can be rifle mounted & collimated with a pvs 14 in dual band. Costs the same as the Rix Stride. They are actually identical products physically, but the Stride runs a gutted firmware.
Great video. I got a sidekick640 on the helmet and I really like it for once “the stalk begins.” It’s just a lot less useful that the Telos XP50 for spotting and identifying varmint. That being said, the ability to have continuous situation awareness while on a stalk can be super helpful. I do worry a little bit about light pollution when I flip it up to prepare to get on the rifle, but that time window usually isn’t too long. Would love to see a video on your golf cart setup!
Have a sidekick 640 as well .its great for scanning then identifying the target ..then using an actual thermal scope on the target .sidekick is pretty awesome and firmware update.
What shoes did you use to connect the two devices to the bridge? And did you have to shim any of them? Can you please let me know the name brands and locations you purchased. I have this exact same set up but I am missing the final piece.
It is a strongly recommended product with awesome image quality, and can be used as clip-on, monocular, scope and helmet. More importantly, it is worth the money right now
Sensitivity and pixel pitch are two separate things. Its sensitivity is <40mk, while current gen sensors run at <20mk. It's actually not a big deal, and arguably better for some purposes. The deer showing up as one giant lightbulb? Well, with a more sensitive sensor, you would see more gradients and detail there. For detection, I like a less sensitive sensor, for identification, more sensitivity is ideal. The latest 1024 sensors are at <40mk, so they're the best of both worlds.
You're right, and I even have those listed as separate data columns on my spreadsheet on it and still missed it in reviewing the edit. Thanks for catching that for me.
Looking forward to a comparison between the nox18 and this guy! Just based on initial image impressions, how would you compare them? Do you notice a distance difference? Do you have any experience with the rh25 at all? Thanks!
Yea it's the same unit but a different and superior firmware version. The only thing the rix stride has going for it is a 5 yr warranty. China company iray likes to rebrand their products to avoid sanctions.
I love my ST6 for scanning. I use an N-Vision HALO-XRF on my rifle, and side by side, the ST6 isn’t that far off from what I see with my N-Vision. Humidity is definitely an issue with the ST6 compared to my BAE core on the Halo-XRF. But hey, like you said, for the money it was a no-brainer purchase that I’m extremely pleased with. Great performer.
RIX - A wider field of view would really help your sales. I agree with a button top battery would be better. Otherwise it’s a great handheld or helmet mounted thermal.
How do you find the brightness of the screen? My biggest issue with my ST6 has been that even on the lowest brightness setting, modes like black-hot are incredibly bright and almost painful to look at when you're out in the dark. I've also asked them about external power - the USB-C port can power the device, but apparently only when it has a data connection. It would be nice for users who need more battery life to be able to plug in the USB-C and use a larger battery pack.
I feel the same way about the screen being to bright during black hot, but I also never use black hot either. When I want to switch which eye I look through (thermal vs NV), I lazily squint the opposite eye, then my brain realizes that I'm getting more data from the open eye and it focuses on that optic. This only works when the optic I want to look through isn't overloading my eye with data. For example, if we're near a pipeline pad that has an active flare stack, my NV eye is SOOO bright that the only way my brain won't focus on it is if I roll the device out of my line of sight. Every HMT that I've used feels the same way to me when running black hot, so i just stick with white hot.
@@brazosvalleyboarsandvarmits Love mine. I don't have any issue with black hot. It's what I always run. I get a little over 8 hours on the RIX rechargeable batteries. Thanks for the review.
Never heard them called scanner, thermal monocular is what they are called, you didn’t mention they are upgradable, the only thermal monocular in the industry that is.
