My first experience with a trumpet was with The Salvation Army in West Palm Beach Corps in 1962. I have always loved playing my horn for the Lord and I’m now 71. I still love Salvation Army music and I love my Lord Jesus Christ even more every passing day!

I was captivated by this piece when the then recently reformed Canadian Staff Band visited the UK. A good many years later my wife and I were privileged to host Norman Bearcroft in our home for a weekend when The International Staff Songsters came to Halifax (West Yorkshire) Sad to say that the corps which was then flourishing is now closed down..
First time for me hearing Isaiah 40, and well WOW, you can tell it's a test piece for contesting bands, but, you can sense the Holy Spirit breathing through it, so it is not out of place in a Salvation Army festival. The new Resurgam, perhaps?
The highlights for me were the Tuba Solo and 'Compass Point.' Top marks for the Pre-Christmas/Black Friday Sale commercial there ain't no other band puts it out there like the CSB!

I loved the nature of the appeal at the end, "Find someone wearing a tunic with the S's we just want to share God's love with you! So beautiful thank you ❤️
The Good Old Way by Bruce Broughton what a fantastic piece. I remember first hearing this on the ISB lp "Brass Impact" back in 1973 and thinking "Wow!" the great thing is 50 years later it still has the 'Wow' factor!
A quite unusual piece. We don't hear baritones as soloists all that often but all the players are brilliant, The setting of the words associated with the music is very interesting and thought provoking.
