Reminiscent of all the 8mm footage I have on my channel from the 70s, shot all over the Bay Area. One thing that stands out in the old footage, is the abundance of game back then. 🥴🍻
Why did you trap that bird? Very likely illegal. Maybe there is a back story that I could not tell from the video, but unless you had some license from the State or Fed's to do this, you may have had some fun and made a video, but it was likely illegal and immoral. The Bathrobe Raptor Catcher. Since this was 5 years ago, I hope that you were tracked down by the authorities if indeed you broke the law. But even if you didn't, why put stress on a bird the way you did?
I have a juvenile who I see regularly perching on the various hedges and such, trying to hunt the birds, chipmunks, other wee ones I feed and foster. I’ve always been outside already, he/she lets me get within a foot from him before flying off but landing only a couple more feet away. Not afraid of me at all, nor aggressive toward me. I keep getting closer to marvel at its beauty, is never bothered by it. And while I believe in the circle of life, they can hunt somewhere ….far from my sight/area. How long until there eyes turn red? He’s been around since the summer. Still has green eyes now in October.
I saw one of those the other day that had just caught a bird as I was pulling in the entrance to a big power utility outfit. It flew off with the bird as it catching plenty of flack from other birds. Those are beautiful birds. One buzzed my bird feeder about 3 months ago but came up empty handed. He could have gotten his fill of bird seeds but they are not programmed to eat seeds .😀
