The 3 last Beethoven's piano trios (Op.70 1 & 2 - Op.97) are true masterpieces of classic chamber music, and 3 of my favourite composer's pieces. Great execution by #VanBaerleTrio !
Thank you. Beautiful. Beautifully played. Every once in a while, I'm moved to tears by music...and for some reason, all the letters on the page are blurry. Really, it's hard to express, but I haven't been to a concert for 3 years; it left a hole in my life just when I needed the comfort, enjoyment and stimulation most. (Terrible sickness and death in the family.) Thank you again. It means more to a complete stranger than you could know.
Thanks very much for making a full performance available as video. This and the Empty Concertgebouw video were a great intro to the Van Baerle trio. Liked them so much that the 5-CD set of Beethoven works was my no.1 Christmas request - and I have not been disappointed! The Trio version of the 2nd symphony was a super surprise. It's a pity that the B. sonatas for piano & cello aren't works for trio.
A really excellent performance...captures the richness and exuberance of this unique work. Stacks up favorably with the Oistrakh-led recording, which many view as the Standard. My only critique is that movements 1 and 3 were a tad too fast (even though clarity was maintained, for the most part).
Tchaikovsky wrote this trio after having lost a dear friend The sentiment is deeply appreciated especially at this time since I'm sadly in the same situation and feel the same Pain expressed by this composer ! In Tears. Thanks
Beautifully balanced playing like so many trios were the piano overpowers the strings. Here the piano always stays always totally in harmony ! A real Pleasure to the ear. With Thanks and appreciation.
I love watching Van Baerle Trio! I bought their recordings after catching their Tchaikovsky on RU-vid. I was unfamiliar with this Mendelssohn Trio before watching this video, but can't imagine how any other rendition could be more thrilling. I first enjoyed Maria Milstein playing Dvorak with the Busch Trio on Medici TV and then saw RU-vid of Van Baerle Trio Live at Wigmore Hall. Fabulous.
