It did that’s the worst part, the studio got bought and their contract with the new owner wasn’t renewed. They basically lost the entire season and all the other stuff produced along side it except for physical promotional materials which was essentially just the cards and some cardboard standees of the new characters around the time the first season ended. Must have been a huge blow to the wallet too since they never recovered their expenses through blue ray sales

The cards and the anime and comic provide that. In the anime main character gets a card with gargantua punisher with gao on it and paruko tells him oh that's a card your dad uses. Same for when he found the magic world flag. While in comic he actually met his dad and he calls gao his dad. While in cards blissful sun is a card with both paruko and gao in it.
It's a card game anime that featured a school kid cast Nobody expected a boruto for this of all things so they didn't really have the time to build a believable Romance Arc between Gao & the reporter girl my guess is Gao just got that Rizz growing up and paruko wanted it
