My issue here is - how would we come up to those piecewise pieces algebraically vs. just logically / graphically?
@AllAroundMathGuy
@AllAroundMathGuy 28 дней назад
Sorry I missed this when you asked. The algebraic expression for the two pieces is the piecewise function -- one part that has the exact equation that is given, and the the other part that is the opposite, ie. the negative of what is given. To determine where each part occurs, you need the x-intercepts as found in the video. You could test a point in each interval to see where the original function is positive or negative, and then 'flip' the parts that are negative with a negative sign in front.

Hello, what program are you using to do the writing and snap to grid and having the caluculator come up when you need it? Thanks
@AllAroundMathGuy
@AllAroundMathGuy 28 дней назад
Back when I made these videos I was using Microsoft OneNote - you can have it show a grid and set it to snap to the grid. The calculator is a virtual TI83+. You can find it at www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/84/8442.html

Just had tuff shed build a shed and having this problem. Now I am having to go back and forth and I paid over $9000 for this shed. They saying that it is dating where I ask them to put it, but not addressing the building base is not squared is the reasons it is sating at an angle and not centered.🥴🥴

@AllAroundMathGuy
@AllAroundMathGuy 28 дней назад
This is not cheating, haha, but when finding the reference angle you ignore the negative sign; then you reconsider the negative when deciding which quadrants the solution angles terminate in.

This doesn't help...which angle do i look at it from then? if theta is not showing up on my hw . I still am left confused to find which side is the opposite one
@AllAroundMathGuy
@AllAroundMathGuy 4 месяца назад
The opposite and adjacent sides depend on which angle you're looking at the triangle from - opposite is across from it and adjacent is one of the two sides that make up the angle. The hypotenuse, however, is always the longest side regardless of which of the two acute angles you're looking from.
