I've changed the channel name to match that of my blog. Here be videos of transport related and other stuff. Think of it like home cine films of the 1960s and 1970s but with the ability to skip the boring bits and no one trying to make you drink home-made wine.
Thanks for this. It's great to see so many miniatures being driven. Not a complaint but a request and suggestion - commentary and a few interviews with the owners. I know it's a lot of work and I have no idea how you would do it! Thanks again. Oh, also: thanks for no music. I don't understand the need to impose "music" over the natural sounds of the fair.
I have fond memories of going from Ramsgate to Calais in 1980 on a trip to Cologne with the Motorcaravanners Club. I have slightly less fond memories of returning a week later which was a very rough crossing with 6’ plus waves and I was, as my little sister is always kind enough to remind me, a bit unwell 🤮 Didn’t put me off hovercraft though 🙂
Been on this line a few times my late parents retired to Abbey Park Beeston Regis Sheringham a lovely place to visit along with Wells Blakeney Morston, etc. Very Happy Memories
I think it was a big mistake removing the trolleybuses from the UK. They were ahead of their time and useful for both inner cities and suburban commute.
Yep. Can't see them coming back though now that battery electric does the same thing but without the extensive and expensive overhead electric infrastructure.
We need both trams and trolley buses. It’s a pity they’ve mostly been taken away. As an aside at first I thought this was a video of a scale model! The scenery and tram movement looked too perfect to be real.
How come you didn’t give the dates of the cycles overtaken by the 1903 Wolsey? They are part of the run too , I’m guessing that it was the 1893 Swift and 1904 Swift
I only gave dates for the vehicles that I could identify watching the footage afterwards, checking against the DVLA vehicle check and the Veteran Car Run's own website. The latter wasn't entirely accurate, some entries being obviously wrong possibly due to late changes. I think a couple of the bicycle listings showed the same bike under two numbers. So you're probably right - I'm certainly no expert! 🙂
Just a simple question. Am 78 and recall on my childhood trips to London, I guess in the late 40's and 50's many of the "big red buses" displayed large black and white "eyes" on the front of the bus - set on each side of the destination and route # box. For 78 years I have wondered what they advertised or stood for. Can anyone out there hep me with an answer?
Extended Bodies for Most of the Buses Much as I am not comfortable asking the depot why they stopped running the London Suburban Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox Gardner 6LX and Gardner 6LXC Diesel Engine Olympian ECW’s on routes 30, 121, 230, 271, 349, N279 And 158 why can’t we make the same make of the Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox Gardner 6LX and Gardner 6LXC Diesel Engine Olympian ECW Buses but Modernise the insides of these Buses. Also, make it low floor up and down and also extend the middle body part of these vehicles a little bit more so there will be more space for the wheelchair users. By the way, if you could remake and Modernise these vehicles could they also make them into a Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox Gardner 6LX and Gardner 6LXC Diesel Engine Olympian ECW Version’s that if it will be possible to Modernise the insides of these Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox Gardner 6LX and Gardner 6LXC Diesel Engine Olympian ECW’s make it low floor up and down and also extend the middle body part of these vehicles a little bit more so there will be more space and even a London Suburban 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox Scania N230UD Enviro 400 MMCs and 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox Gardner 6LX Diesel engine Enviro 400 MMC’s and also extend the middle the body part of these vehicles a little bit more. And please do something about these Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Important Professional Ideas Please Please Prime Minister and also includes the Mayor of London.
It's a shame that there aren't any retro advertising signs on the buses. I lived in London , I'm 62 now , and these wonderful buses without them, just seem lacking.
Yes, I know what you mean although a lot of these buses are still used for private hire etc. and having the likes of Johnny Walker and John Player plastered down the side of your bus is frowned upon these days 😉
Hope to visit this year (2022). Is there any location where you can photograph the procession of all the buses at once like in all the stations video please? Thank you
I think that Geoff had access after the general public had gone home to get the procession shots, ask him. Gore Cross is probably the busiest location for queues of buses as they all pass through the interchange.
Smaller than normal surface trains because the tube tunnels are only 11' 8" (3.56m) in diameter. It does make them look very small when they're at the platform in "outside"stations like Northfields, which was originally built for normal sized trains 🙂
What a fantastic day it was and the weather great too. Hope this brings back some happy memories as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SCFRqAEr1EY.html
