is this belt different from the serpentine belt? or does our accord only have one belt? I have 2009 v6 coupe manual. car is 200,000km and i have not had anything done on it before except for oil changes and tranny fluid change

Thank you!! I kept thinking my tensioner hydro strut failed / seized (204,000 miles) ended up being the fact that I didn't hold constant / slow pressure to let it contract. Sheared the adjustment point off both ends and had to get a new one. This info wasn't listed anywhere I looked. Much appreciated!
can you please advice me ? my car done the 200,000 KM / the engine voice became noisy & indicates that something is wronge shall I send it for a mechanic or ignore it COZ some mechanics told me to ignore it please advice boss ???

Holy Moly was this important info for me. I've worked on cars for over 50 years, less in the past decade or so with the greatly improved reliability of the cars I have bought. But I haven't seen anything like this with the exception of a Harley Davidson hydraulic chain tensioner for the cam drive. If it had been a weekday I would have already called a service center to have it done I was so pissed. I am replacing the power steering pump and couldn't even loosen the belt. Thank you so much. The rest of the job was a breeze. What might be common knowledge to some might be a nightmare for others. I'll share one little tip for removing the P/S pump. You'll notice on the 08' and 09' V6 that the lower pump bolt is really a pain to get to. Removing the pulley will help but it hits the motor mount before coming off it's spline. Remove the rear/upper mount bolt *ONLY* and you can scoot the pulley off revealing the lower bolt. Thanks again.

Thanks for sharing this because this is my next project. I do Honda maintenance videos as well on my channel. I have over 20 videos of scheduled and basic maintenance on my 2008 Accord EX-V6 sedan. I do warn you though, I grew up in a blue collar family, and have spent the last 11 years of my life working with the Navy...both being enlisted and working as a civilian contractor so there is cursing and swearing in the videos. So if you do watch, please don't be offended. I'm trying to keep the cursing and swearing at work and off the camera. Thanks for sharing this
You saved my butt. my daughter was heading back to university, I was checking her 2010 Honda accord V6 over I noticed her serpentine belt was half gone, I keep a spare belt but no garages open to change it. I know about tensioners but was not aware of the hydraulic type on this car. when I got the socket on the tensioner I was expecting it to move instantly like most, it did not, so I thought it was ceased until I watched your video. had it changed in 10 minutes. just wanted to thank you for taking the time and putting the video on.
I've ran into this issue before many years ago and it's a pain. My best advice to you would be to order a new tensioner, cut the belt and replace the tensioner with new belt. Not gonna lie...they are pricey. I'm on www.hondapartscheap.com right now and a factory replacement with 30 percent off is still 138.74. The part number in case you want to look it up is 31170-R70-A01. This website is legit. It's all factory Honda genuine parts down to every last nut, bolt and washer. Hope this helps.
Gilberto Cordova you can use a breaker/pry bar, i had the pleasure of replacing the alternator the other day in my accord when it started making the supercharger whine (PITA btw). just rest the flat end against the belt on pulley and push making sure to make contact with the stripped tensioner bolt and watch the belt come free.
