Nice Informative video Sir...... Does Radiwow R 108 have overloading issue on SW & FM in comparison to Xhdata D 808 when connected to external Antenna..
Sir, I am planning to buy R-108 for SW listening , So can I ask your advice regarding the performance of R- 108 & D-808 which is Good & which is better on SW both using external antenna & telescopic (internal )antenna.......@@thefunkraumchannel6709
it looks like the Yaesu frg-100 is more better at RX by about 5S units, I wonder if there are any settings in the software for the Icom SDR to help improve the receive.
Nice video.. i just bought the d808... the airport is just 9km from my location.. the area is flat and there are not big buldings.. just 1 or 2 level houses... but even that I have a long wire pending on the roof that I attach to the antena with a "caiman"... I cannot hear anything in the airband 😟... do you thing is the kind of antenna im using? Or do I need to use a jack on my wire to plug it in the radio to hear anything?
Hi A long wire antenna is for the 0-30mhz side of the radio...using the buttons,lw,mw,sw. For airband you would need a different antenna plugged in to the antenna jack...somethng like a diamond d777...or a discone.
Fascinating to see this classic equipment being used and enjoyed. Interesting about Colossus. I too had an ERA MICROREADER but I've never come across the synoptic decoder. Interesting and so much more fun than using a computer! Links for posting and the trip down memory lane. 73 Adam 😂
Hi Adam I agree. Theres something about machines doing the decoding rather than a computer, especially if you have a continous printer plugged in to it. Yes the synop decoder was a rarity , the microreader would only decpde the synop message in to 5 figured groups, you would need the synoptic unit to put it in to plain txt. Yes about colossus , the chap who rebuilt it at bletchley , Tony Sale, was a family friend and it was on my 40th birthday we first got it fully working. A great day...sadly no longer with us. Mat
Deceptive; you are actually running SDR# software on a Windows PC and just using android to connect to that PC via a remote desktop/viewer. That's not the same thing as running SDR# on Android as the title of the video would lead you to believe.
Title is. sdr# on an android smartphone..not sdr# on android platform I am using sdr# on an android smartphone..how I go about it is irrelevant..it works I am not trying to deceive anyone thank you
Hello. I am so grateful to you for those videos that you made about Yupiteru 7100. This is the almost only opportunity to listen to the sound and at least see it. PLEASE HELP! Now i found Yupiteru 7200 in sale working fine, but in bad condition - buttons, plastic... And i found 7100 model for same money in almost new condition. Difference only "narrow AM mode" , which was added to 7200. I'm not as experienced as you. PLEASE explain to me what is better to take? Is this distinction very useful if I am going to listen in on flight communications
Hello 7200 is much better Maruata ssb filters Narrow am Internal longwave/medium wave antenna Permanent back-light and keys Lower battery consumption 7200 is better especially on ssb Regards Mat
Hi, I have been using my ICOM IC-A22 for so many years now and that I am very happy with the unit. While I already need to replace its original battery pack (CM-166), instead of buying an original pack, I was told its cheaper to replace the 10 pieces - 2/3A batteries inside the pack, probably even using a higher mAh than the original 600mAh. That way, I could use the radio much - much longer. Is this something you can recommend? Will this not damage the radio? Your thoughts / opinion on the matter will be appreciated. Thanks & regards!
@@thefunkraumchannel6709 Hi Funkraum, thanks so much for reply. Unfortunately, I do not really understand what you are saying. Anyway I just ordered from Batteries American a new battery pack (CM-166), rated at 12v x 1300mAh for almost $70 dollars. Also, I have been using a desktop charger (EMS-166) which can fully charged an empty pack for 2.5 hours. Thanks and hope to hear from you when able.
Does this transmit on AIRBAND stock from the factory? I inherited one from my grandfather W1DFU and I have been wanting to set it up at my hangar for a base station
Привет! Стоит такой d-808 сегодня со всеми скидками 5600 рублей (70$)., какой лучше купить за эти деньги или меньшие, в лес, в тайгу, в Якутию, так иногда время скоротать, покрутить...
Pity these DSP radios sound so bad on SSB, if you haven't already tried the Tecsun PL-680 it's vastly better, ECSS works really great and it's easier to tune the BFO, the 680 is a real DX machine because ECSS sounds so good.
@@thefunkraumchannel6709 Yes do get a 680, you will be amazed of the sound quality of a pure analogue radio, especially on SSB. The ability to use USB/LSB on an AM commercial station with such good audio quality will change your experience 100%.
HELLO SIR YOUR REVIEWS ARE ALWAYS GREAT, I'M FROM INDIA PLEASE SUGGEST ME WHICH ONE SHOULD I GO WITH OF ABOVE THEM ? im looking for great and little bit punch of bass radio? As per look and appearance i liked 808 but I'm not sure about which one sounds great ! Plz help me..
I am From india 🇮🇳 too.. I have purchased sihuadon r 108 from amazon it cost about 3650 ruppe.. It is amazing radio, Air band is best it catches air signal from 200 km far aeroplane.. FM is also so sensitive.. Sound quality is best
Which radio receiver better receives fm frequencies with a standard telescopic antenna at a considerable distance (tens of kilometers) from the transmitter? D-808 or pl-310et?
If you want to do a real world RX test, just tune in to the ATIS, it is transmitting continuously from the ground and is ideal for such a signal to noise test. In your test only the ground station, the ATC lady is significant for a comparison, since the planes vary their signal depending on their bank angle and direction because line of sight will make no big audible difference within the first 50 kilometers, considering they are running some 5-50 Watts AM on an antenna that is a bit smaller than a quarter wave but still relatively efficient. To my ears it sounds like the 108 sounds almost better than the scanner and better than the 808. The beauty of the 808 is that you can adjust the bandwidth for ideal s/n and you have a squelch, which is unique on most portable radios, while it is standard on scanners. Little hint for better testing conditions and no stress plugging antennas from one radio to another: You can take a high dynamic ultra low noise preamp from ebay for a few bucks and use a cheap multiport satellite TV splitter (e.g. 5-2500MHz, 1 in, 6 out) behind the amp and you will have well isolated signals for each radio which give you a signal/noise that might be better than having the antenna straight on a receiver ... but here you feed them all with the same antenna without causing a mismatch or a signal drop, while you simply need to switch the audio of each receiver to your audio recorder ... it will give you a much better idea which radio is the winner. The trick is to find the right high dynamic & low noise preamp that only needs little gain, just enough to compensate for the loss of the splitter. I am running such a setup for more than 10 years, it is cheap and easy to build and wonderful to use one good outdoor antenna without any compromise while having several receivers doing their job ... decoding signals or feeding audio into a file to be checked later. I have just ordered a new D-808 on a website that reminds you on a guy flying a carpet and rubbing a lamp ... they offer it new for under 40 € including shipping?! Wonder how they manage to make that price and if it is really a quality build that works?! I already have a bunch of airband receivers, but what I like about this one, it charges via USB, so it is also ideal in the car or anywhere because a computer or a USB charger is always around, it is just sad they didn't use USB-C instead the used micro USB, not so cool, but better than any customized connector that needs a specific voltage. Many thanks for the test and always have a good reception 👍
Works fine in my shack, lets me hear things i couldnt without it... You can then use dsp or filtering to get rid of the higher noise floor Proffesional radio operator for 45 years
@@thefunkraumchannel6709 When everything is connected properly, the unit does work. I was mostly referring to the shoddy connectors. I have repaired these for friends - the issue is usually bad soldering that either breaks, or even runs of solder making a connection between conductors. QC issues basically.
@@dl3691 I haven’t tested its range on transmission, because it doesn’t have the 8,33 step I don’t use it as a reserve radio in the plane, I rather carry it around to listen to traffic. If it’s what I think (5W?) in clear line of sight should be like any handheld.
Please could you help identify a problem with my same radio: The reception is cut intermittently every 5 sec and the Rx sign disappears for an instant. Equal intervals. Strangely, reception is OK on Wx channel and on the emergency channel when dialed by the red emergency button. When I dial the same 121.5 by hand it starts to interrupt. Very strange… Thanks!
Hopefully you figured it out by now but that is due to the WX ALERT function, it is periodically tuning away to check for weather alerts. Press [F] and then hold the [SQL * WX ALERT] button to toggle.
Didn't know the 108 had airband nice. As you've disabled comments on it seems all your other videos or the malachite ones can you tell me where you bought you clone from as it looks to be one of the better ones out there ?
Hi the malachite clone has no problems and has 1.10c firmware from the factory. It performs the same as the russian original at half the price a much smaller so goes in your pocket. It came from bangood.
