I know almost nothing, but I absolutely love fragrances and am learning all about them. You get to come with me. If you are experienced, you get to laugh at my ignorance! We all win!
@@Rozisunshineglow hi! Unfortunately not, I'm sorry. I have no clue what is involved in shipping frags internationally, but it sounds prohibitive. Maybe in the future!
If you wanna' try more gourmand then Ferragamo Uomo might be more your bag. It's a banger and beast. Otherwise try the Initio and Kayali Yum to compare. As well, let these maturate and try again. Cheers.
Out of all of them I pulled the trigger on Honor And Glory. It's a hybrid of Ani and Cedrat Boise. It's an original creation. The whole line is good for cold weather. They're workhorses mostly imitating Initio and Kayali Yum. No expectations for cheapie dupe twists of designer niche. It is what it is. Perhaps they don't make an impression because it's cultural, regional, and lacks mass appeal. Cheers.
@@shmoopiebear I think you picked the best out of all of them. That's the one I've returned to the most for sure. This is all so subjective, I think the value in channels like mine is to come to understand what I like and dislike and then you can probably get SOME idea of where you'd fall on it. For instance, Sebastian The Perfume Guy doesn't like marine notes, but I find them fascinating. I may not like the fragrances he doesn't either, but his dislike of a particular note is usually enough to at least get my curiosity up. Likewise, Randy the Fragrance DOud also isn't wild about powdery fragrances, so he can alert me to things like that which I'm sensative to. But, like I said, this is all so subjective, I don't think anyone other than the creators have much ground to take offense on behalf of a negative opinion, ya know? I appreciate the comment, I really do appreciate hearing how others perceive the same scents because it can help me consider them in different ways I hadn't previously!
Great video. Cartier are my favs, I have EDT and Perfurm and love to use even been a woman. Love the feeling of freshness that EDT gives to me… but the fixation that Perfurm has is great, bc is stronger I usually wear only during winter season.
@@marianacidrao1473 I love that! I think I mentioned it in a video, but I gave a bottle of Haute Fraicheur to my friends wife because she's in the same camp! It's not like the frags know they are male or female targeted!
@@marianacidrao1473 and I'm agreeing with you! Thank you so much for watching! Let me know if there's something you think I should check out, I'm always open to suggestions!
@@saulgoo2334 I also get that for sure. Tbh I probably have such a strong association because of when I was in India for work for a month. Lots of spices in the food over there, like, insane amounts of the actual quantities of spices. They REALLY spice it. I have never encountered the phenomenon of that coming out of your pores the next day but it totally did. I and everyone else totally smelled like yesterday's lunch or dinner. Cumin and coriander both come out strong to me in that circumstance. Anyway, it was such an odd thing to be able to smell almost the dish that we ate because of the volume of spices, and while it was ALSO sweaty, it was never negative because the food was unbelievable. This is all making me want to go back
I remember when I (tentatively) purchased Encre Noire because I'd watched a few reviews which said it smelled "like death", smelled aweful etc.. when I got it and smelled it, I fell in love with the damp/brightness of that Vetiver. ! I also got SOO MANY compliments from co-workers that I ended up with a backup. Gorgeous scent!
@@YoTratoYTrato vetiver is such a delight for those who appreciate it. I truly love it. I kinda think it's like gin, if you have the right expectations, or even low ones, the first time you smell it, you'll be more likely to enjoy it.
@@joesmellsgood absolutely, I also think you're right about "Having Mature taste" dont think I'd have appreciated it in my 20's or even 30's. Funny how that works
I’d love to see one of these videos every 1000 additional subs. So so glad you liked Agua Brava. When I wear it for a full workday though, I literally have to spray 2-3 mls mostly on fabric to make it last. The only opinion I really really disagree with is your take on Club De Nuit Intense Man. That for me was one of the worst perfumes I’ve ever smelled and fit for a dude I’d avoid like the plague. Not nearly cool or original enough for a man of your taste and distinction.
@@saulgoo2334 bahahaha love it! Yeah, I have worn Aqua Brava a couple times since I recorded this and have put it on my shirt for the same reason. Love it though, it really does smell great!
@@joesmellsgood My wife is crazy about it. Of my 13 or so in my collection, it’s her favorite for sure. I showed her your video and she grabbed my 6.7 oz splash bottle and just smelled it and kept saying “yep, yep” about everything you said about it.
@@joesmellsgood I love weird distinct scents, and TBH Cowboy Grass sounds right up my street. I Love Encre Noire and the A L’Extreme. I’m way more into something unique than something that smells like everything else at the mall.
@@saulgoo2334 that's the direction I'm headed more and more. Interested in something weird and fun. I got a sample recently of Magic Mushrooms from Bohoboco and it's so weird, but wearable and different. That's part of the reason I'm starting to get crafting materials, I want to explore the space. I think it's fascinating what smells we can now create synthetically yet convincingly. I want to take a swing at understanding the science enough to make some interesting fictional accords. Obviously this is insanely niche, but for those of us who have apparently oversized olfactory cortexes, it's scratching a very hard to reach itch.
Love what you do here man! Keep it up. In my opinion, and my hot take... I think Turathi Blue is your "most wrong opinion". I cannot stand the dry down of this very popular and beloved fragrance. About an hour or less in It turns into an old school barbershop scent to me. Great if you like that, I guess I like more modern smells. Thanks.
Win lose this isn’t probably that answer you want, but opinions are subjective. Your opinion is right to yourself and others opinions are right to themselves just my opinion lol stay blessed
@@jessealvarez5800 you are completely correct. I used to be more bothered when people's opinions differed from mine, but I try to use those as opportunities to approach something from a different perspective. The Ted Lasso quote, "be curious, not judgemental." I'm curious when and why folks disagree with me. The good news is that if they like soemthing I don't, that just means there's more for them!
my wife got the one in a red bottle as a gift and I LOVE it, I'm looking to the black and gold bottle (blind). I miss the world before 2016/17 when we could all agree and disagree on things without being accused of hating or bias. Taste in perfumes are very subjective and he's just given his own opinion, if you love them, you love them, no need to be rude, disagree and jog on, easy.
If you love em, I say more for you! I also agree with your sentiment and think it's possible to not personally like something, but understand a person who would. The same with food, art, movies, etc.
I just discovered Declaration Parfum. Went straight to my A tier... will probably go full bottle on it. It's just so good. Plays nice next to DS&D St. Vetyver.
I always look forward to your videos. I recently picked up the original Quorum by Puig (from the 80’s) and I love it. It’s reformulated, but I can’t say I’ve ever spent 15 bucks on anything as good. It’s a soapy, herbal deep green masculine edt with prominent notes of pine, leather, tobacco, oak moss, and some florals in the far distance. I think you could pull it off and I’d love to hear your opinion of it. I think it’s a masterpiece.
@@saulgoo2334 by the way, I just recorded the 1k sub video and did first impressions of Agua Brava and the spoiler is that I love it. I've been wearing it since and it's such a pleasant surprise!
Great video Joe! Your channel just gets better and better. I recently almost blind bought the original EDT, but after trying it out first, I passed and bought Loewe Solo Origami instead. I didn’t get any BO smell, but after the first 20 mins or so of the cumin and sawdust smell, I got plenty of sweet bright florals from the neroli and the citrus. Bois De Vetiver by Lagerfeld is supposed to be close to d’Un Dior, and the original.
@@joesmellsgood I liked the one I bought, but my wife and son weren’t too keen on it. I know I’ll likely not reach for it so I sold it to a good friend who LOVED it.
Great video Joe,I haven't tried anything from the line,I was just wondering when you say coriander,is it the powder or the leaf? I think in the states you call it cilantro.
@@johnadair4693 in this case, I'm talking about the seed. Funny thing, we call it coriander when it's the seed and cilantro when it's the leaf, not sure why. Also, it lists coriander, but it strikes me more like cumin. Does that help?
Joe thank you for your review ! I músculo also have done a review in Portuguese and also have done some considerations as a veterinarian. It seems also that your dog didn’t like it. I also think is beautiful for people but not for our baby dogs
@@DarkShori this seems like the fancy box with the two things in the back, but I feel like I recall a ribbon but could be mistaken. This is batch 313800 if that helps
Hello Joe, I just discovered your channel and I must say that I'm impressed by your knowledge of scents. That being said, I am hoping that you can help me by employing your expertise to my request. I have struggled for some years now with fragrances. I adore Kuumbamade scented oils (specifically Water Goddess and Egyptian Musk) ,unfortunately I live abroad and Kuumbamade doesn't ship to my country. I have seen Juliette has a gun, not a perfume advertised and wondered maybe I should try it because I adore scents that are musky, a tropical beach, coconut, a touch of vanilla and sandalwood fragrance. The problem is, I never seem to be able to find a replacement that is affordable and fits me like Kuumbamade did. I think that I may buy the Juliette has a gun not a perfume, but would need something appropriate to pair it with. Could you please give me some affordable suggestions? I appreciate any and all help you can provide on this matter. 🙏
@@chachachoochoo thank you so much for the kind words! I haven't smelled the fragrances you referenced, but I just ordered them and will see what I can find! I looked them up and they sound interesting! Stay tuned, I'll try to get something up in the next couple of weeks in response.
@@chachachoochoo just got Egyptian Musk literally a couple minutes ago, but love it! It has the core vibes of clean laundry. This is the smell of clean laundry once all the top notes are left. I'm gonna look into it and see if I can find you something in a similar vibe
These kids are crying in the comments and I’m now at the end of the video and still haven’t seen anything but honesty. He has not said they’re bad in no way😅. The internet needs a purge.
So I had bought Aventus around 2014/2015 (I believe it was a 2014 batch that leaned more smoky) and wore it as my signature scent for about 4 or 5 years before I ran out. As much as Ioved it, being a little older and wiser I couldn't bring myself to purchase another bottle. After doing some research I bought this fragrance, and I have to say I am FLOORED. I can't compare them side to side, and maybe my memory is failing me, but this is EXACTLY what I remember Aventus smelling like. My first day using it, I applied a couple sprays before work and as soon as I stepped into the room, my coworker commented on how good I smell (and again a few hours later). I'm not one to typically advocate buying clones but this is so close (especially with Creed's batch variation) that this could easily be a smoky batch of Aventus. I can't possibly bring myself to buy the real thing after this one, and can't recommend this enough if you love Aventus but aren't willing to pay the price.
@@emmanuelsackey8847 your story is pretty common with a lot of the Armaf clones in this line, in particular the clones of Creeds. I haven't stopped buying clones, but feel my interest moving toward original creations. It's hard for me to feel bad for creed in situations like this though, it feels like their own quality control is responsible for this problem to begin with.
@@joesmellsgood No doubt! I appreciate you taking the time to cover some houses/fragrances that offer a quality product at good value. I’m trying to take that path to keep collecting without breaking the bank, and it’s been a refreshing change of pace from the usual hype beasts. Bentley in particular is one I’ve been really happy with as of late.
@@johnadair4693 that is hilarious. I heard about that one recently and was curious because I got a sample of Aican and it has knocked my socks off and Lamar was the only other one from them I've heard of. THIS does not smell like a wet dog lol, but now you've got me curious to smell Lamar 😂
I also have the same feeling about jean paul le beau, i tend to prefer much more the other version of it "le beau le parfum" i feel like its probably because the scent has to be apreciated from its projection rather than in a close up, just like givenchy pi, givenchy pi is disgusting when you smell it closely, super synthetic and too sweet, but let it go around the air and its amazing. I havent had the chance yet to try that theory with jpg le beau, but as by my own experience, there isnt a single jpg that smell bad, so whats up with jpg le beau? i thought that to myself when i first tested it. And that might be it lol.
@@p1nkboy984 I have been finding that to be the case more and more with houses like JPG and Rabanne, but then there are also examples like Altiar from PDM where it does smell decent up close, but smells absolutely incredible when diffused
