Mechanical Ventilation basics. Here I talk about the basic waveforms, modes, settings for various diseases, alarms and trouble shooting. I also touch upon other issues also in ventilated patients. Meant for beginners, respiartory therapist nurses and support staff. Dr. Rakesh Periwal is a critical care consultant at Apollo Hospitals Guwahati.
With an FiO2 of 0.60, the PEEP should be between 10 and 20 cmH20, anyway, if you are adhering to the ARDSNet PEEP/FiO2 table. I don't understand the fear of PEEP unless a patient has a BP fistula.
Hi Jennifer, the new Lancet article probably throws some light on this. Not necessarily all ARDS lungs are PEEP responsive. Probably its time to divorce FiO2 and PEEP.
Very very useful , please make more videos(real time) on disease specific ventilation, as to which mode with what settings especially in neonatal and pediatric ventilation
