This so called 7nm breakthrough hasn't proved to be worth crap. The chip yields are poor and overheats and otherwise doesn't work like it should for its 7 nm size. No surprise there.

this only works for perfectly well grown crystalline with well-shaped XRD peaks in either single phase form or without any major interaction from other phases. in the most cases, however, there are more than 2 phases and their peaks are in the same 2theta area making it hard to distinguish from one another. and also they are all in the different size incl. nano-scaled upto micro. another point making this impossible is the presence of amorphous phase, making the major peaks largely broadened. I do not think you can ever estimate the degree of crystallinity when there is random amount of amorphous phase
