what are they doing around 2:40 Searching the deck for some lost contact lenses? blows my mind how people like Magellan on tiny ships, already quite battered by this point, with extremely inusfficient navigational tools not only got there but found their way through a quite mazy system. And then just adding the likely longest open sea voyage in history til then directly on to it. Finding out that the Pacific is quite a bit larger than anybody thought. His constant mutiny problems made it even more unliekely to pull this off.
They're looking for any debris that might get sucked up into a jet engine. It's called a FOD (Foreign Object Damage) Walk and is done regularly. I'm not a sailor, but I did the same thing on Army helicopter flight lines many times.
Just guessing, but it looks like an easterly passage. So, if you're a United States aircraft carrier, "6 acres sovereign U.S. territory, any time, any place", and you could take over B.A. and Santiago without breaking a sweat, why not go round the Horn? Better video.
The Strait in the winter is a better option than to put ships in possibly chaotic waters. Carriers avoid storms and worsening conditions like the plague.

Hella late response, but given their history of being left-wing politically, as well as when this was made, my interpretation is that it’s specifically using old German sayings/products to critique the current emboldening of fascism in the US. Of course, it could happen in any country, but the idea of “perfect” cheerleaders, white picket fences, and readily available guns is uniquely American.
Paul is a goofball, he also always smiles off stage. I was at Ullevi 29-07, and both he and Till were in top form and had some of the best audience interaction I ever saw.
I can use this in my sociology classes it is that good. It is both Boogeyman and Blacks. It is Ontologisation, polarization and populism. It is Trump and MAGA and the GOP, and the GOP couple threatening the BLM march, it is European refugee politics (the two women behind razorwire are east African refugees longing for the good life in the west). Trigger warning, N-word ahead, but I want to hammer the point home. The candy they are eating was called "Negerküß" in German, "Negerboller/Negerkys" in Danish. It literally means "Nigger's Kiss". Yea that is how racist the language of our grandparents were. I am 52 and never used it, nor did my parents, but others did and some insist on still doing it. Mostly those who either wants to be the guys behind the podium whipping up the masses, or those that have been whipped up.

Mad men feeding their people fear, inducing Angst. The cheerleaders cheering them on, selling the frightened people all sorts of solutions. Especially over the course of the past two years, with the genocidemic.
I really like your reaction and you are one of the rare ones which got the message at first glance! For me as a German and fan of Rammstein since 95 it's really easy to follow the message. The "Bogey Man" is now explained several times and it was common in my youth in the 70ies to play that "Wer hat Angst vorm schwarzem Mann" on the streets ;-).

I don't believe Till's blond hair has anything to do with the message of the song or video though. He's had this look since before he released Ich Hasse Kinder which was 11 month ago, and I think if they really wanted to portray a specific person they would have made it pretty clear.
I don't think so. Politicians and those in power will always use fear to control the masses and I think this is meant to portray all of those who use fear as a weapon and a means to control.
Nice you got most of the layers, when they shoot on the monitors the colors are black white red like the colors of the third reich. I love the credits that gave me a big David Lynch feeling. So good. But one thing I have to mention: you have a visible flickering in your picture. I don't know if it's the light you're using or a wrong shutter setting.
The cheerleader moves in the beginning and the end are referencing the "Haka Dance" done by the Maori, the indigenous people of New Zealand. The candy which the band eats in the end was called "Negerküsse" "Negro Kisses" back in the day. The name was changed a couple of years ago.

Another thing that came to my the babies being put back in to the mother to be born again on earth and also coming back in a sense they died on earth and are now being born in the other world and their birth or rebirth on earth is them already starting to die because as soon as your born your dying..your dying to live or as Rammstein put it "Wir sterben weiter bis wir leben" "We keep dying until we live" because in a sense what we perceive as dying is us actually being born again into the other world that's why the girl in the end seems happy when she dies because she knows that her death here means her being born over there..if that makes any Sense? This is art at its finest..a true Masterpiece!!
My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.
