I really need help… Both my clown loaches male and female (2) are in a big community tank with lots of rocks, caves and plants. Recently I noticed the female was missing then saw her in a small hole underneath a big rock in the sand of the tank and all I could see was her fin. She now comes out occasionally to feed like once or twice a week. And now I am starting to think they are breeding. What are your thoughts?
@@adamc7918 I plan on having 4 different buccochromis species being that they are my favorite. I hope a 20 gallon long can hold one in quarantine if I ever need it. 😬
Hi Adam. How are you, Sir? I'm sorry that I missed this video. Unfortunately, I am not really on RU-vid. The Fish are looking Absolutely Fabulous. If I remember, they are Bucochromis? It has been a few years since I last considered getting them. Out of appreciation to you for taking the time to produce this content to share with us viewers, the video has now been given another like 🤙🏼to say thankyou very much. Have a nice day and take care, Sir. 🤙🏼🙂🤙🏼❤️
What I've been doing is going to the creek and getting a handful of minnows or fry and feeding them to my cichlids. So far they are healthier than ever but I am worried about what you said about the disease part.
Best of luck, probably hit or miss. Could be great but one diseased minnow and you're on trouble. Can you set up a small quarantine tank for the minnows so you can observe them for maybe a week before feeding?
Very helpful Adam. I have Sachem matrix in the bottom and looking to add Chemipure to make my water "crystal clear" (it's a little yellow now). I like your approach and will try it.
Hi I know this is an old video but I’ll ask anyway in the hope that you might see my comment. When you say you turn your lights off for 3-5 days after the new fish go in do you also abstain from feeding during this time frame?
I have clown loaches with peacocks and haps and I feed them their own sinking bottom feeder tablets also feeding them in the morning before I turn on the light and at night after I turn the lights off helps too I’ve found my other fish don’t go after the bottom feeder tabs but do go wild over algae tabs
So this is how male and female fish reproduce....very interesting. You ever had a weird tbought come to your mind and you ask yourself, how do fish have intercourse?
I wouldn't say it has to be canisters, they probably just work a little better because you can put the intake lower in the water column which helps with water circulation depending on tank size. If you use hang on back I'd also add a jet for water circulation
I just installed the exact same model. I love how grey yours looks. I am still adjusting my Fluval light colors to make mine look more grey like yours, and less white.
I have 1 on my 90 gallon. Had on there for many years. cant remember how long its been sense I cleaned it. Well over a year well.. And my water parameters are perfect my tank is full cycle. All levels are perfect I don't test my water but I know my nitrates and nitrites are at zero or what ever perfect is lol. I don't vacuum my tank , nothing.
I just killed 14 fish... I was always using my alkaline/purified water machine to use purified water in my tanks. I read online that purified water isn't a good idea. So I started using tap water when I bought my new tanks. I let's them cycle and when it was ready, I added fish. Emerald Eye Rasboras in one tank and Ember Tetras/Bolivian Rams in another tank. Set them up a couple weeks apart.... I have always done 50% water changes (just like to do it) and this one time my fish acted differently. All the 6 tetras died and my rams almost died too. Somehow they lived. I thought I did something wrong. That was last week... So yesterday, it's time for the next tank. This time I double checked everything I did. Water temp was good and 50% removed and added. This time, 8 Rasboras died. I was thinking... What did I do differently... Tap water! Checked and the tank ammonia was high! 1ppm. Checked the tap and 1ppm. Checked purified water and it was 0. I was so mad! Just ordered more fish and it was a lesson for me for sure.
Best of luck, I'd back off on the 50 percent changes until they settle in. Let me know if i can help. Wherever you get them from probably didn't do huge water changes due to cost so they aren't use to that
