what a crock of shit. yet another group of aikido idiots trying to reinvent swordwork(aikido comes from swordwork not the reverse) but forgetting the most basic thing about nihonto. all the techniques i watched before barfing are using the fukora shinai to apply PRESSURE to the uke with the edge,forgetting that tge edge is generally fucking sharp and the slightest pressure and movement can cut to the bone and the pressure exerted in the tecniques displayed is enough to cut through smaller bones. there is no NEED to appmy pressure to gain compliance because the uke is dead or dying-the true nature of nihonto tgat eludes aikidoka numptys(fine if using hanbo but not ken)
Well, next time you're attacked by multiple opponents with knives, and a broomstick is the only weapon you can find, remember, its just a broomstick. Throw it away and try to rugby tackle headlock on the ground the opponents. Maybe all at once, while dodging the knives?
Brilliant, must remember to bring a broom stick with me, next time I am going to be in a fight. Hee hee. Anyone ever try a rugby tackle on an Aikidoka, maybe get them in a headlock on the ground? I trained at Judo, and got my Aikido instructor involved in some groundwork......nuff sed.
By the way, lets say that Saotome's weapon dominance is incredible!. He is vastly known for being ultra quick and precise with them, powerful, his irimi with (or without) weapons is impossible to avoid, technically is really a godgifted aikidoka, truly one of the very best.
Is that so, in terms of weapon training the so called Aikikai Aikido has a minimum weapon training. In regard to Saotome, his weapon background includes: 1 and 2 swords, Jo, Bo, Tanto, Hanbo, Naginata, Boshuriken, etc. It is really hard but fine and funny to train!.
Thank you. Its hard to find a school with a good weapons curriculum. Saotome sensei seems to have a very good one and also Saito sensei, but the Aikikai is very poor in the training with weapons ( at least in the east coast).
