Hi Anne, we stayed on for the duration, when the train stopped (approx twice a day) to clean snow/refuel etc. we had 5-15 mins to get off onto the platform and buy snacks from the local sellers but couldn't venture far. You can buy tickets that allow you to hop on/off to explore diff places but we decided to do the full journey straight. You also get off the train at the Chinese border which took a few hrs, but again just waited in a waiting room and you couldn't venture far, the train wouldn't wait for you!

Hi thanks for the video, so trans-mongolian route is not as luxury as what ppl said online then for 1st class, it charge nearly £1300 for a room without private toilet and shower, I am confused, I thought this meant to be a posh train, other youtube reviewer said you need to bring your own bowls and knives and forks for eating?

hey Traveller Mcd! it's not quite luxury no, but very comfortable and I would definitely recommend the trip. There is a restaurant cart serving 3 meals a day, however, we were on a budget so only ate there 3 times over the 6 days, hence needing your own food/water/snacks too. If you are looking for real luxury, there is another company named Golden Eagle you can take the trip with however they are much, much more expensive - their trains look amazing though!
