I am a primary music teacher (I only teach kindergarten-second grade). I want to bring happiness into the world through music, whether it is through folk songs, folk dances, history, or theory. I believe that music belongs to all and is an important part of your history and culture. Celebrate and learn about others with me.
I thought this song (yes, "Peace Like a River") was just a Bible song. I say that because this song appeared on TWO Christian albums. It appeared on WEE SING BIBLE SONGS (from the "Wee Sing" series) and CEDARMONT KIDS SUNDAY SCHOOL SONGS (from the "Cedarmont Kids" series). I have no idea why it is on one of the "Plank Road Publishing" CD's (which is non-Christian). PLANK ROAD PUBLISHING is not a Christian location (to my thought). I say that because I sang two songs from these CD's at my school when I was still in elementary school. I sang the songs "This is America" (from 3RD GRADE --the 2003-2004 school year) and (every year's June) "We Are the People of the 21st Century" (all grades). This was at Sunset Elementary School (this was the elementary school I went to if you ask me what elementary school I went to for grades 1 through 5). I have no idea why this song is on other music CD's (like PLANK ROAD PUBLISHING) even if these albums are NOT CHRISTIAN. Where OUTSIDE OF CHURCH and ("outside of Bible" references) have you sang this song in (i.e. school)?
This song played every day at the end of the school day for me in elementary. It took me so long to remember the lyrics and find this upload, and I cried listening to it, being reminded of my childhood!!
My Grand Daughter Choir sang this for their school winter concert. I am so overwhelmed with JOY from the message the choir director is relaying to the children through song. Merry Christmas and Godspeed!!!
