The truth is the truth. The practice is the practice. Guarding the Heart is the practice, and the Philokalia tells the truth. The value is universal. Thank you for your question.
This quiet little video that only 57 people have seen is the voice crying in the dessert. It ought to be seen by everyone in the world. If we knew what love is, then we, as the human race; would not be destroying life.
The following connection helped me tremendously (!!): Level 1 = Functioning appropriately on the physical plane Level 2 = Letting whatever comes up come up Level 3 = Being with your experience This gave me an aha moment!
M. H. Yearwood, you aren’t quite grasping the three levels of spiritual practice and the way to approach all three levels. The three levels of spiritual practice are described by St. Symeon as the three levels of attention and prayer, but they are universal across all traditions. At the first level, we use the senses to engage with things that evoke for us a sense of spirituality. The first level must lead to the second level, where we use the intellect to engage with scripture, mantra, and remembrance to move us inward toward the Heart. The second level eventually leads to the third and deepest level, where we use the will to rest in the Heart and live from there. When I say to be with your experience, let whatever comes up from your experience come up, and function appropriately on the physical plane, I am referring to the ongoing practice that happens at all three levels.
Nicely done. Great Beings seem to be fewer and fewer these days or is it just me? Ability to transmit in darshan seems pretty rare nowadays. If so, then why? The world needs another Ramana Maharshi.
Well written showing a masterful understanding of Siddha Yoga principles, a true devotee; you are radiant ... stay true to your inner self. God Bless. I know Baba from a spiritual experience moreso than living in his presence. If what I felt in my heart is what he felt and transmitting to me ... Baba is God's Love. the ways of the Guru are mysterious. How do you know when you are in the presence of an authentic guru ... Baba said, "By how that person raise your energy; make your subtle body get lifted; when anyone under this comment can raise spirits like Baba let me know. We must follow the guru even if we don't understand ... for there is a blessing in submitting to the blessed.
Thank you for this. I only found it today (7/28/2017). Muktananda Baba has given me everything and although I never discuss the issues your blog discusses I tire of the arrogance displayed by people who simply do not know who he is. Thank you.
Rohini Ralby no problem. ever since i read your book, Walking With Baba, i've been itching to stay up on your teachings. i wish so much that you lived on the west coast, but i'm happy to take what i can get. :)
Actually, I am sure about what I was discussing. Our emotions are not who we are, therefore they are vibrations we need to own, master, and transcend in order to move to where Love is our constant experience. Understand?
We're not really disagreeing. To clarify, we cannot and do not sit idle. We must remain aware of our ignorance and work continuously to free ourselves from our wrong understanding, all the while acting as consciously and clearly as we can at every moment. The problem is that most people aren't willing to face the reality of our ignorance about "good" and "bad". In an Absolute sense, we are One; in relative reality, we are many, and we are accountable to each other and for our actions.
We may pretend intellectually to have overcome our emotional habits, but until we have purified our intellects our vision will be clouded. However rational we think we are, spiritual practice shows us how our attachments-including attachment to what we call “rationality”-blind us. We are all suffering; the way to overcome suffering is to remove our ignorance. In order to help others, we must first overcome our own ignorance. Sorry--you'll have to read these posts in reverse.
Often, people who want to “do good” are unconsciously invested in perpetuating problems, so that they can continue to feel as though they are “making a difference”. In order to be able to discern what is appropriate in a given situation, we have to have mastered and transcended our ingrained concepts of “good” and “bad”. Only after having put in the hard work of facing how limited and jaundiced our ideas of “good” and “bad” are can we free ourselves to see things from a place of non-attachment.
