Funny how the majority of society is clueless on how agriculture works in this country. Cattle with high performing genetics often sell for far more. millions in fact. Why? An outstanding cow like this will likely be a "donor" cow meaning once breed, they will flush her embryos and place each one in a donor cow. Through this process she could have 1-20 maternal calves in a single year. Technology now exists to even sex the emboss meaning you can decide only bulls, only heifers, etc.. If successful the rate of return can be steep.

How do you like your discbine? How fast do you like to cut with it? Looks good
@SuperHerefords
@SuperHerefords 3 года назад
Thanks. DiscBine has been fine so far. The biggest issue is cleaning it up, it's got more places for junk to collect then anything around here. As far as speed that depends on the crop, anywhere from 4.5-9mph. Strangely some thin crops cut better at a faster forward speed and slightly slowing down the rpm's of the DiscBine. We think the faster rpm's on the Discbine tends to blow down crop ahead of the cutterbar if the crop is thin.

@SuperHerefords
@SuperHerefords 4 года назад
@@csdeyton We've weighed the option of doing wrapping but just haven't brought ourselves to do it yet. For about 4 years in a row there's been issues with finding windows for proper drying time. This farm has been in the same family for over 100 years and it wasn't like this in decades past, at least not year after year like it is now. We've already had 3" more rainfall than our yearly average. No-till is going to be the next thing here I believe.

how well does the soybeans dry down? if you are rolling them for dry hay that is
@SuperHerefords
@SuperHerefords 4 года назад
They are rolled as dry hay here. The moisture ended up being higher than we wanted but really had no choice but to cut and bale them when they did. Normally they dry down quite well after going through the rubber roller conditioners and then very lightly tedding them while they're still a bit damp to cut down on leaf loss.

What variety of soybeans are those? And what stage do you mow them for hay?
@SuperHerefords
@SuperHerefords 4 года назад
We found a tag from one of the bags and the variety is UA 5715GT. This year there was no choice on the stage for mowing. There's only been a few windows the whole season for making hay. They had actually put on bean pods but had no beans in them. How this helps.

@@canecreekfarms5250 They've tried a couple varieties here Hybrid Pearl and Browntop Millet but ultimately ended up going back to Browntop. The Pearl Millet was pretty stemmy and the tonnage just wasn't there compared to Browntop. Grew up with ear corn. Stored it in round wire cribs. Between the birds, squirrels, coon, and rats, there was never a kernel exposed on the outer side of the cobs. Rats and ear corn go hand in hand. Lucky for us my dog loved killing rats. When he saw us pull out the mixer mill, he headed straight for the cribs and waited, he knew it was game on.

My little 5065m was giving trouble lights and I finally discovered that the fuel sensor is sensitive to the presence of water. I changed the fuel filter and it fixed the problem. As I was troubleshooting, I installed an oil pressure gauge...shows 40 psi at idle and 55 psi at 1800 rpm, so the trouble was not oil pressure. That's when a friend mentioned that the csuse of most trouble lights is the fuel system. Hope your 5065m is doing fine.
@SuperHerefords
@SuperHerefords 4 года назад
Hi, No fuel related problems yet, knock on wood. Every now and then it'll give what we call the 'Red Ring of Death' show up on dash and just stop moving. They've always been able to shift back to Park and/or shut it off and restart and it's ok, only happens once or twice a year. It has over 1400 hours on it and has been a good tractor. The only real repair has been a gasket between the water pump and the block. The water pump can't just be unbolted and removed, you have to pull the crankshaft pulley and us a puller to pull it almost all the way of but not quite off and then the one bolt can be removed. From the factory it only had very thin layer of sealant instead of a $6 gasket and about $250-300 labor from a independent mechanic and it was fixed. A friend of ours has a 5115M that had a fuel sensor go bad and the dealer kept telling him it was water in the fuel but the dealer was wrong. It was under warranty and after he drained the entire system twice and put fresh fuel in the dealer finally came and picked it up and fixed. Good luck!

Nice video and really like your farm. If you don’t mind educate me as I have never been near a round bailer just old school small square. How do you know when the bail is finished guessing you can see inside the bailer?
@SuperHerefords
@SuperHerefords 4 года назад
Thank you! Our baler is a little old school in that it has bale shape indicators and tying marks are on the baler itself. It's an electric twin tying system. With mirrors adjusted correctly you see all these indicators without turning around. You can't see the bale for all the wide belts. There's a beeper inside that goes off when the bale has reached a certain size you set it to inside the baler door. Many balers today have all the shape indicators and such in a display panel mounted in or on the tractor. The twine isn't actually tied only wrapped around the bale and held in place by tension. We still have an old JD 24T square baler but it hasn't been used since buying the round baler. Thanks for watching. This video shows a little bit about what I'm talking about. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2kD99GzJRl0.html
