I love how the “it’s a pressure accumulator! Why don’t you get it?!” are wrong and not getting how a pressure accumulator works. One, that’s not what the video is claiming. Two, pressure accumulators are for pressure surges. Three, the air in the bottle needs to be a comparable pressure to the system pressure. Four, pressure accumulators are for hydraulics and hydraulics are closed, not flowing fluids, systems. Five, say the system is closed (water off) and there is water hammer, the pressure surge would go into the bottle and continue through the pipe (I’m a firefighter and deal with this. One hose causes the water hammer and all the other hoses feel it). Bernoullis principle is have a fun time with your “pressure accumulator.” This video is for views only

Ya, if air(O2) is used and if there is any leakage through the barrier, the compressed air is hot so when it comes in contact with mineral oil, it could cause explosion or fire.
Wear rings can in fact be interchangeable if needed. You can definitely make a rod ring from a piston ring just by stretching it open, so long as the O.D. and I.D. and cross section of either application are the same. You can definitely make a piston from a rod just by curling the ring into itself making it overlap just enough to hold on the piston for installation.
I was thinking of using an accumulator for a press that I am designing because of the low loading rate required. Is it a valid application for accumulators?

In the first minute, you described Shore 00 as a "conical bottom". Did you mean hemispherical? That would be my guess based on the cross-sectional drawing you show. Just trying to make sure.
Thank you for the explanation. I was having trouble with a press at work, machine repair took the accumulator tank off said that we did not need it, the press has not ran right sense. One of the main things that it is doing is pulsating violently
