7:08 marshmallow? Haha so random but still my favorite part. Also just noticing that was the bag of “marbles” from the beginning of the song. That sly devil haha
Shirley Jones said she was pregnant with her son Patrick during the production of this movie. It was secret kept away from many on the set. However, she said during their kissing scene her son Patrick gave a kick which startled Robert Preston, exclaiming "What the heck was that?"
My folks used to say "Right here in River City" whenever anyone asked 'em where they were from. I've said it my entire life, and never knew where it was from. The fact that Lyle Lanley was based on this (as The Simpsons is my all-time favorite *THING*) makes this that much cooler. Thanks for posting this.

MAGA, trying to go back to the days where they tell a lie and people who just watch “Fox News” believe everything they tell them instead of going to other sources to find the truth.😳
I love the detail that the people there have seen billiards, maybe even regularly partook in the game, and nobody ever had an issue with it. But pool is somehow so different and will somehow destroy society. Reminds me how people always claimed that TV and videogames fill children's minds with hate and violence, but also give them books that feature those vary things to read and write essays about, just because they're classics.
3:51 It just occurred to me that Prof. Harold Hill (Robert Preston)'s partner-in-crime Marcellus Washburn (Buddy Hackett) "whipping out" from a boy's back pocket a copy of Captain Billy's Whiz-Bang was no coincidence.
Goes to show when you got a guy with a brain and a bunch of sheep you can spread anything you want virally get them all stirred up chronic common motivation put a little nationalism little in put a little reminder that they're bad parents can you and you can get people to do anything if you can convince people of absurdities you can get them to commit atrocities
