Manuela Soares Rodrigues and Jorge André Cardoso joined on a podcast to reflect on both the challenges and beauty of dentistry as a profession and its impact on one's lifes, hopes and dreams.
Manuela was a general dentist for 18 years and decided to commit full time to the mission of helping other dentists develop self-awareness, emotional intelligence and a conscious professional activity while promoting overall fulfillment in their lives.
Jorge André runs a multidisciplinary dental practice and is an active lecturer, a passionate clinical teacher and author who keeps finding ways to optimize work, simplify his life, find meaning and have fun in his journey.
With their ever learner mentality, they try to understand dentists' common struggles and create awareness, communication tools and emotional insights to make dentistry a fulfilling activity while making space for one´s freedom, wonder and creativity in this ride called life.
Manuela and Jorge André, yall rock!! As a young dentist in Portugal, this episode was something else.... I regularly listen to you guys during my car rides, and all episodes are truly a gem. This one hit especially close to heart, because I've been having some doubts about my professional future, selection of speciality and having the constant learner mentality... One thing is curious about me tho... I focus myself more on the soft skills than on the technical skills... And the majority of the clinics only focus on the technical part... This is not a problem per se because my mother has a dental clinic and I've been working with her since leaving dental school... but I want to expand my working horizons and Im unsure of my technical skills... Since I never want to cause problems/aches/pain to the patient, i refrain from doing several clinical procedures and that hinders my evolution... I guess I have to "Just Do It" and use possible future mistakes to learn and improve. Enough babbling, I wrote enough already 🤣 Thanks once again for everything! And some day I'll be able to enroll in both the conscious leadership course in Sagres and the Oral rehabilitation course in Sorriso Natural 😂❤
Hi, Your content is good. But the problem is, fewer views, the SEO score is very low, and many more. You should do SEO on your videos to get more views and subscribers. If you need assistance you can tell me.
I always tell newly graduated dentists, there's a LOT of work out there to be done and patients want to do it, BUT you need to know how/have the time to diagnose it, to talk to the patient. And that is only possible with comprehensive initial assessment.
This is the key, time in our apoitments to deal with all emotions and start to work with pleasure and greatness in dentistery. It's why I like to work for my self. The problem is when you do a huge investment and you have to pay bills. And in my case the investment was made not to earn more money but to have great conditons of work. And inside of us we have a battle. Paying bilks and work slow to do the right apoitment. Working with pressure leave me sick. I know that I'll learn much about how to deal with this stuffs with you. Thanks for bringing this talking, i was feeling alone. I want more. You are great Manuela, thanks André
