First of all, 4 leaves for that tiny pot is too much, 1 is enough. Second, it’s better to add it 10-15 minutes before the dish is cooked. Bay leaf adds an amazing flavor and smell. It’s barely noticeable when you just started using it, but after time you will see the difference
Adding any kind of vinagar also works great. Also use a splash of vinagar when par boiling green veggies as well maintains the color and the crisp texture.
