Making my first ever battle jacket before I see Slipknot for the first time ever and I’m glad I learned these rules before hand lmao “literally sewing bands I’ve never seen live” lol
I feel like a failure lmao. My Battle Jacket is all political statements, my country’s flag upside down (the US is in distress so. Symbolism yaknow?) So far not one single band patch (I’m looking to change that. Just haven’t found any patches at gigs that I dig the design of.) Am I a total failure?
imo graspop has become too large (and too Livenation), we either go to Alcatraz in Kortrijk (Belgium and a lot closer for UK people than Graspop) and/or Jera On Air (Holland). Highly recommend if 30+ :)
This year was my first time at Graspop and my 11th years in a row doing download. I agree Graspop puts download to absolute shame in everyway, will take a real good line up for me to ever consider doing download again. I really got my eyes opened.
Ahhh you two!! Too kind! 🖤 & Thanks for putting up with my guys!! 😂 - Literally everything here is so spot on & I agree with it. I'm so glad you had a blast and were able to look back in such a happy way, rather than how we all look back at recent Downloads! Catch up with you again soon! 🤘🏻😎🍻
I'm 59 now. I still have and wear my cut off from age 11 (fk you kids today and your stupid invented phrases. I simply cannot bring myself to call it a 'battle vest', that honestly sounds so fkn gay it makes me cringe). These 'rules' you allude to these days are fkn bollocks. If I was forced to invent rules I can only think of two. 1. All patches are heavy metal/rock. 2. Sew the bastards on by hand and by yourself (yes, have some pride ffs). If you wanna force me to come up with at least three, then yes 3. please do take the fkn piss out of anyone with a yngwie knobhead patch, they deserve it. Rock out, enjoy and forever....keep the faith 😁🤘
Great video guys and much respect for hanging in there for the duration. I never realised Ben was such a Rain God. Please ask him not to invoke the same incantation at Bloodstock. Two thoughts: (1) Tommy joining Tobi for "Dying for an Angel" is almost as cool as Klaus joining Tobi for "Dying for an Angel". I like Eric, of course but...damn...Not jealous at all. Much... (2) Did Claire really walk past an DT Empath t-shirt and not purchase it for me...? (For the record, I have two DT t-shirts. I have enough DT t-shirts...said nobody ever... Love this and congratulations on surpassing your 2k subscription target. See you guys at Bloodstock...
I saw you on the campsite on thursday, but it was in early morning near the toilets and I thought: nah this is not the time to go say hi 😂 but I didn't see you again afterwards
graspop tip: if you are looking for more drink options, on the festival site there are some special bars. next to the north stage there is a belgian beer bar, which servers special types of beer. next to the south stage there is a cocktail bar, which serves some mixed drinks.
Did you notice sabaton playing at the verry beginning at 2007 at a small stage and just becomming bigger and bigger and now playing as headliner channel zero is a big belgium band but its not famous around europe but its allways headliner because its huge in belgium
I went in 2016 (Honeymoon) Skipped 2017 because pregnant 2018 2019 2023 2024 Maybe a tip if you don't want to camp: there's a few cabin parks nearby. Devil's lake: Center Parcs Vossemeren and Metal Park: Sunparks Kempense Meren. They go on sale when the tickets do. You can share with friends and at Metal Park it's around 160 euro per person extra for a week (monday to monday). There's a free shuttle going to and from GP. Last shuttle to Metal Park is at 4.30 AM daily. Also: no parking troubles on wet fields. (I hate camping, haha)
You guys missed the Belgian Beer bar with about 8 different kinds of beer and the Jim Beam bar where you could get bourbon and coke's, gin-tonics, mimosa's,... All expensive, but they were there on the festival site :)
Being from Belgium myself, I've been going to Graspop since 2006. It's one of the best (if not the best) organised festival ever, especially seeing it grow to the juggernaut it is today. Yeah, it's quite expensive but the quality you get in return is well worth it. Unfortunately IMO the line-up the last couple of years hasn't been that impressive anymore but it's one of those festivals once you've been there, you'll want to come back... Another highlight (and my favorite festival in Belgium), you should check out is Alcatraz in Kortrijk. It's basically what GMM was 10 years ago, with some more extreme bands and even better atmosphere
R.I.P Sonisphere, what a spiffy time that was. I remember one of the Iron Maiden show days Bruce Dickinson was flying a spitfire in a historic re-enactment of a WW2 dogfight mid afternoon over the fest site. It was such a great random thing at a festival, loved it.
Here because of TPD, but staying and subbing - your chan is great! Deffo deserving of more subs. Me and my Mrs dont do bigger festivals anymore, so we live our metal festival life through you guys. Great Graspop vid, really funny stuff. Loved it
Hey maybe you should visit the Summerbreeze open air in germany. Its a nice an well organized festival with a bigger Alkohol selection. 😂 Its a little bit smaller but very nice and also very international. If you ever want to come to Germany, think about the festival.
Your video, along with Billy's and TPD's, has really really made me want to go to Graspop, looked like you an had absolutely amazing time, the lineup is always amazing too (at least the past few years) Also in reference to crowd surfers, I was down the front for Lamb of God at Bloodstock 22, and there was a shit ton of crowdsurfers, so we all kept an eye out, and let others around us know people were coming over, so it does happen, but that's one of two times I've seen it happen.
That Lamb of God gig looked brutal but it was so friendly at the front! We were all laughing and giggling whilst sorting the Crowd surfers!!! But it was so fucking hot all weekend! @clarkwayneprince
@billymayhem aha, it was blast down the front! I may have been kicked several times and possibly had some hair pulled out but I loved it! But yeah fuck that heat 😂
I refuse to give Download my money again. After 11 consecutive years, I was tired of having the piss taken out of me. Your Graspop video just goes to show what can be done if the organisers actually give a toss
about the orginal mascot of Graspop: it is a doll (or pop in Dutch) out of grass, hence Graspop. Before 1996 Graspop was already a local music festival with more mainstream bands. And the doll was the mascot of the original festival.
@stevetaylor1657 Hahaha chairs are fine! As long as people don't start making silly rows and get arsey when people try to navigate them 😆 Also, hi Dad! 👋 x - Claire
There is actualy a bacardi stand at graspop where you can get whiskey&coke and other alcohol drinks or in the belgium beer bar you can get other brands of beer.
Rotting Christ was definitely one of my top 2 pits of the festival, and I was at the front for Electric Callboy and i do not recommend it, as soon as they started playing the crowd surge was so intense i thought it was gonna be a crowd crush. Then immediately it was crowdsurfers every like 10 sec so you couldn’t headbang or dance because you had to be ready to shoulder press the next main character or else get kicked in the head with a surprise muddy boot
@Ezryder645 Rotting Christ are such a great band 🖤 big love for those boys. Oh wow, that sounds intense! 😩 Never get to the front for EC - Noted! 😅 - Claire
I'd love to go to graspop but my partner has never been abroad so I don't know how he'd cope lol 🤣 Also are you planning to release a monthly vlog for June?
You guys absolutely dodged a bullet with DROWNload this year. Definitely wasn't the best! Will be looking into Grasspop now, thanks to your vids, so cheers! :D
@@twaymon519 So much respect for you guys enduring the rain and mud and making the best of it! Y'all are tanks! 😀 Definitely have a look into Graspop - such a good time! - Claire
You guys need to do summerbreeze in Germany that festival is amazing and food is amazing and camping really good for medium size European festival it's definitely good organization is amazing the Security very reasonable and people are friendly too Highly recommend to you guys
@edmonsterReapereddieWilliams Summerbreeze has always been on my radar! Had some really great lineups. We've also never been to Germany so that would tick 2 boxes! - Claire
