Hi! I am interested in this pack…are the chains set up as all kicks, all snares etc. Or are they structured as kits from a specific machine? Great work!
Hi SONWU! It's an honour to have you comment on my video! The sample chains are organised by machine then kicks/snares etc. So EFM-Snares, TRX-Claps etc. I can do them different for you though if you like, won't be an issue! Shoot me a message on Bandcamp via the contact link on my page and I'll get something sorted. :)
Congratulations on picking up a Virus, I'm sure you're loving it! Thanks for the kind words, sometimes I find myself hypnotised by the sounds of the Virus and have to share. :D
insane video, great stuff. I just got a mkII uw, without the +drive. Can you speak to whether you think that's a necessary upgrade? Does the regular UW have enough memory to work with?
Thank you! Well the +drive adds Snapshots and more capacity. It's useful but not that important. That said, I know a guy who creates and sells +drives, if you feel like upgrading. :)
@@lstlvls2521 yes actually I'd like to make that contact! Is there an email I can reach you at? I'm mostly concerned about whether I'll have issues with resampling a lot... I don't need to put my own samples on but I do want to resample in probably every pattern I make.
@@shirishsarkar Try this Discord link - it's where they discuss the +drive upgrade and engage with customers: discord.gg/yxg75JCsh3 Let me. know if there are any issues with that Discord link. :) Resampling is amazing fun on the MD.
Hey man, great beats! been into the MD for quite a while but I've never really understood the Dynamix compressor... Do you have like one / two settings that u can apply to every beat/project or is it individual always?
Thank you! Honestly, it depends on the project. I usually put the Gain to around 32 as I like the extra grit, but for everything else I go by ear. What I found really helpful is this thread from the old Elektron Users forum: www.elektron-users.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=28&func=view&id=102275&catid=9&limit=10&limitstart=0
From the point of view of a beginner and that of someone who favours hardware over daws.....would you say this is a good place to start within the world of sequencers? I've got an sq1 but already find it a bit limiting. It's basically either a beatstep pro or the oxi 1. Was just wondering about it's work flow and efficiency with say a DRM 1 or other hardware synths Thanks
Hi! I'd choose the Oxi One over an SQ1 or Beatstep Pro any day but I've been playing with sequencers for quite a while... As a complete beginner I would definitely struggle with it! I guess it depends what you want to do - Beatstep Pro is a brilliant sequencer and perfect for most styles of music. I personally need something more flexible and Elektron-like and that's what the Oxi One offers, and much more. If I was a beginner I'd go for the Beatstep Pro first, just because it's super easy and fun to play around with.
@@lstlvls2521 hey thanks so much for getting back to me! So I've got my vermona drm coming in the post and a minitaur, a dfam and a bunch of volcas. I'm having a blast but some sequencing is needed. Pretty set on a bsp. Give it a year or so il want something a bit more substantial(elektron etc).
@@stewarthenson7558 Sounds good dude, enjoy your new setup! The DFAM is a beast, I love the unique workflow and happy accidents! Minitaur is so good as well, super nice in every way. Funnily enough I just picked up another Volca Keys after years of not owning one. Sounds surprisingly great, dark and gritty!
I'll buy that.Controlled/measured withdrawal starting with access to major synths+keyboards, gradually tapering down through FX pedals and ending up with a Casio Stylophone which the patient is blissfully happy with !Let's go...
Hi LVLS, Do you know if it’s possible to get the The Finger to work in Maschine+ standalone? I managed to make a user version that loads up fine but when I route a group to the finger no sound. Best 👍
Hi DrippyDroopy! I haven't tried getting The Finger to work on standalone - I would assume it wouldn't work as it's a first-party ensemble however you getting it to show up is exciting! I have a feeling it wouldn't be possible to get it to work, but if you do manage it let me know because that would be AWESOME.
@@lstlvls2521 Hi, unfortunately it doesn't wotk. like you said it's because it's a first party ensemble. I don't understand why they wouldn't though. Maybe in an upcoming update 👍
@@drippydroopy7052 I wouldn't hold my breath for that update... But we can hope! It seems there may be difficulties getting any ensembles to work that route audio through them, maybe to do with the fact we can't get right into the settings for the ensembles on the hardware. :(
I'd love to have the firmware features but I'm too nervous to install unofficial firmware on a $2500 discontinued classic. Afraid something would go wrong and I'd brick it. Definitely need to get a UPS first since I have random power outage once or twice a week here.
Well if it's any comfort, there's no chance you'll brick your MD with the firmware. Worst that could happen is, it won't install at all. Took me about 30 attempts with a dud MIDI hub before I got it working with the official Elektron TM-1 interface. Theres so much fun to be had with the new machines and tuning function etc. But if I had that many power outages, I'd be afraid to turn it on! Hope you have surge protection.
Ta! Such a fun machine. The endless enjoyment of parameter locks and automation recording with the knob-per-function of every control. A great combination.
Hi Robbie i'm thinking of getting one - i'm hardware synths only so will i be able to programme the sequencer and get the same results as using a DAW or modular setup ? It looks like a really great piece of gear and could transform my music production.Excellent demo !
Heya Twiglet, thanks so much! Yeah you can use the Oxi One to control hardware just fine, I use it on my Virus TI2, Nord Drum 2, Maschine +... It's just brilliant, honestly. If you get one, you might feel it's a bit fiddly at first. It's definitely unique! Write things down, figure out what you want to do with it, start slow. And use the Undo button. :D
@@lstlvls2521 Yes i've ordered one from Thomann so should be here soon ! This thing looks so well made and i'm excited to think that my creative soup has just added a very tasty morsel to the menu so thanks for inspiring my choice by your input.
@@twiglet2214 Nice, congrats! Hope it arrives soon, if it hasn't already. I've been raving about the Oxi One for years now and honestly I couldn't be happier with it. The updates are constant, which is a blessing as it shows the commitment to feedback. This can be a dual-edged sword for those who want something to always reliably work the same way, but there's no requirement to update it and the updates are fantastic! Looking forward to getting stuff into the new Loop function that Manu added the other day. Take care!
Really good! This is how i use it for making DAWLess techno tracks and live jams, what do you think? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GX5wjt60PkM.html&ab_channel=LondonSoundDimension
Hi, could you please make a kit and pattern pack for the Perkons that I could purchase from you? I just bought the drum machine and would like some to start out with. Name your price for 16& 16 or 32 & 32 patterns and kits. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Hello! Man, I would love to offer kits and patterns for the Perkons, sadly I had to sell mine to afford more stuff to sample! However, I plan on getting another one soon-ish and when I do, I'll work on this. :) In the meantime, I'm happy to send you the backup I did of my Perkons when I had it - the patterns and kits from my performance vid are on there.
Thank you, really appreciate it! Now is a good time to pick one up. It's blown my expectations out of the water - I was expecting it to crash all the time and have barely any CPU. It did crash once - before I updated the firmware. And I did hit 100% CPU at one point but a) I was running loads of polyphonic Massive instances with reverb and b) it's a sampler so you can just sample a loop of a synth with the effects and move on!
@@krazywabbit Yeah I heard good things and a lot of bad things but as you will know, the internet can be an unreliable source of info. :D Very happy with my purchase, definitely worth picking up as an all-in-one groovebox with brilliant software synths built in.
Cheers geezer! Loads of these sounds have samples mixed in with the machines, most of them I reckon! That's where the juiciness of the Rytm sound comes from I reckon - machine and sample with the filter and drive. Beautiful.
Ha, this one i missed! Nice! Question tho, when are you going to 48kHz 32 bit floating point? I prefer 16 bit or 32 bit 48kHz since i use SSL and a Drumlogue. Love your packs!
Thanks for reaching out! Well, I must say I've not been asked to do 32-bit before. I am happy to sample at this bitrate, my main concern is that Bandcamp only allow uploads of 300mb, and the extra bitrate would really add up over hundreds of files. I am hoping to move my packs from Bandcamp to my own website in the future, and if this happens, I'll be happy to increase the bitrate as the 300mb size limit will no longer apply!
@@lstlvls2521yes your own website would be nice. Your portfolio is ready for it i would say. Well this whole 32bit starter with my drumlogue witch is using 32bit at 48khz. So i got interested in the floating point thing. For what i have heard. Internal sampling in Ableton is also 32bit. So i thought Lets get everything as standard and less converting as possible. So then i made the switch to standard everything to 32bit fp. And upgraded my soundcard. Most dj players accept at least 16 bit 48kHz. So converting from 32 to 16 seemed logical.
@@NTRSN-Archive Fixed now, thanks again! I was using the Alesis HR-16 and Akai XR10 back-to-back for a while so got them in my head as one glorious vintage device. :D
You have a good collection of sounds already - the DT and A4 are a brilliant combo! OT of course is the sampler king, though I could never get into it. That said, the digital machines of the MD would complement those well... :D
Elektron can do this, you can set a trig condition per step, so when you take 3 notes out of your sequence and don’t give it a trig condition they’ll always sound. Though this is handier and faster because it’s like, do it with all the notes except these 3
How did you get the black Oxi One if you were part of the kickstarter campaign because the black version was released quite some time after the kickstarter batch? I was part of the kickstarter early birds too so I was a tiny bit miffed when the black version was announced after we had already purchased the regular one.
Hello, very good question. I had one of the first ones with the white grid buttons. However, I had to send it to Manu for repair as the MIDI out port wasn't working... To be fair I moved house one or twice while I had it so probably that shook it loose. Anyway, the black version appeared on social media and I got a new Oxi One with the black pads as apparently they can't just be dropped in kinda thing. I paid for the upgrade but it wasn't very much as it was a gesture of good will. :)
Haha, I know what you mean. Random pattern generation is brilliant but like AI artwork it can be rather soulless... The Oxi One really does allow for funky, human-like patterns that get me grooving!
@@lstlvls2521 The humanise function is the biggest attraction for me. I come from using a VST called Phrasebox which does a similar thing - the bass notes would change with chord changes. Its a cool feature but a little fiddly in VST so for a hardward device to do it - great. I also like the HY sequencers (again VST) which the OXI seems to do well. I wonder if the OXI would play nicely with the TE KO2?
I don't use arpeggios very often in my music, what I prefer to do is modulate the arpeggio mode's Strum parameter on a Chord sequence. You end up with these lovely, musically-correct and endlessly variable sequences that conform to the chords being played. The strums, when set really slow, don't necessarily conform to regular time divisions like 8ths, 16ths etc, so you get lovely free-floating notes. Perfect for slow 'ambient' music. :)
