Hi. I'm Arah and I garden in zone 8A (South East US). I love plants! My garden is my safe space. I garden in containers and in-ground and although I mostly do flower gardening, I have a small vegetable garden as well. I enjoy clearance plant shopping, reviving damaged or stressed out plants, designing and planting up my landscape with annuals, perennials, evergreens and shrubs. Please like, comment and subscribe and follow me as I journey through the wonderful world of gardening.
Hi, when's the best time to plant mums on the ground? Just bought 1 pot today and I'm not sure if I should repot it to bigger planter or just plant directly in the ground. Also in zone 8a. Thanks in advance! I love your videos!
@RichSev thanks so much. I really do appreciate the positive feedback. I usually plant my mums out after they fade in the containers. Good luck with yours .
I like the Purple Hearts, I have them in my front flower bed. They are so easy to care for, they are reliable to come back every year. I like the Somba Rose, the color is beautiful. Growing up my mom had every rose that was out there. Her garden was amazing. Thank you for sharing.
@Shantell-zg9kp i don't add potting mix to clay, that's a bad combination since it has pearmoss and other moisture holding properties in it. My entire yard is clay and the Daffodils come up every year in other parts of the garden
We got a lot of wind and 11" of rain in Athens and the gardens fared well.. Arrah do you use a pine bark mulch, pine bark floats, try using a hard wood double shredded mulch, it wont float away.
@johnheyer6087 glad you and your garden are well after the storm. Regarding mulch, the yard is on a slight slope and no matter the type of mulch with the ranging water all mulch will be washed away from that specific area. The rest of the yard the much didn't move.
My neighbor gave me about 6 rhizomes of the purpe/whine ones you called "gentleman." They are very happy here in South Carolina 8a. They've actually multiplied 3 times over! I have room to put them all 😅!"Thanks for sharing!
Just so you know Arah. I DONT KNOW WHY THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY 4 TO 6" DEEP???? THE IRIS RHIZOME SHOULD BE JUST BELOW THE SOIL SURFACE. It will send up shoots but not bloom if planted too deep.
I was at my lowes the other day and picked up the black pearl and palace purple. Your plants look really healthy for a bargain price and plus in September. Sometimes bargain plants don’t look so good.
What a beautiful selection. Love all of them. Perfect time to plant those evergreens. They will be a great addition, especially when the rest of the garden is sleeping.
Wow, I'm so jealous. I'm in middle TN. And my Lowes clearance rack is basically all brown and dead. I've only once bought something that looked that good on the clearance rack. I love the dragon prince. I've been wanting to plant one just gotta find the right spot.
