Some believe my name means I'm against derivative properties. However, you need originality and derivative assets to solve problems. The derivative finds the tangent line while the integral finds the area under the curve. Together, you can learn to calculate the area of a lake, to maximize how much to fit in packages, to conduct economics, and more. Derivative properties can be done respectfully, like The Orville (S1 & 2) does with Trek. I'm tired of remakes, reboots, & rehashes done for virtue signaling or cash grabs on nostalgia, but I don't hate derivatives!
Hi Jill. Would have been in chat but was flying to Vancouver that morning. My cousin and I watched a bit while we were having a few drinks at our hotel room before heading to the concert. My cousin was concerned as I'd explained to him what had happened and he didn't want me getting down before the concert. I told him no I'm fine. I just need to see that Jill's ok. I could tell you were feeling a bit melancoly and in a thoughtful, reflective mood engaging with the chat. I knew you were ok and was relived you were working through things. Went to the concert that night as knew you were ok and had a great fun time there.
Kipleigh Brown getting pissed and rolling her eyes before she blasts those guys is what makes me wish she could have been the MCU F4 Sue Storm since I have seen her in other roles and Susan Storm is never portrayed as powerful or 'dont "f" with me" as she supposedly is in the comics (I dont read those much) She is supposed to be as powerful as an 'omega level mutant' in F4 and will kill if she feels like it. Kipleigh would nail it, and MCU likes unrecognized people who do good indie work. Now the big hollywood press say they cast it : ( (Variety, Hollywood Reporter)
But I digress. Back on topic I need to watch these two episodes again... it's been 6-12 months. An I wouldn't have been able to make it to hang out since I had to fight off humanoid bureaucracy most of the day. "but we do that -every day-!"
Clobby, Mike, you are our Star Trek sensei. Get well soon. Dr. McCoy is on your case. His salt shaker scanners are on the job, and the biobed is working fine.
I first saw this back in the 80's. From the title I was expecting a bad cheesy B movie, but I really liked it. It's now one of my favorite Sci/Fi movies.
The title was part of why the movie didn't perform as well as it should've, but I absolutely love it. It was created at the exact perfect time right before scientists understood what Mars is really like. Lovely.
There was one main rule in our house growing up in the 70's and 80's, nobody messes with other peoples stuff. That applied to us kids and our parents. We would borrow each others records, but ONLY with permission. Any really popular LP's we would pool our money and buy a 'household' copy that was kept in the lounge with the main stereo. Same with books.
I was about 7 I think when I saw this when it was in theaters... (yes I am THAT old) I think it had an effect, as did Close Encounters (still one of my faves) when it was released. I may not listen to the entire get-together but Scotty, if you want a good movie that's sortof like what it sounds like what you are looking for or hoped from this one, go get a copy of The Plague Dogs. I saw Alien when it was in the theaters but I unfortunately saw it with my mom who kept freaking out and covering my eyes (hi facehugger) which caused more of a scene than me seeing the movie (I had to change seats to get away from her). As far as rabbit language... I still sometime refer to cars as the roodoodoos since that was such a fun scene. Several years ago (10?) I went to look for a copy of Watership to download, and saw there was a spinoff morning cartoon.. not sure I was impressed. I am not sure I in hindsight found the film THAT disturbing, made an impression but we had rabbits and ours did NOT like to be cuddled or held (wow probably just as I sign off talking about them not liking being picked up). Anyway I am sorry I can't hang with Jill, Scott and everyone... I do tech writing all day and have the news on in the background so evening is when I can hang out in these things and (usually) watch scifi. Caught up on Foundation S02, so I might find some obscure 60s scifi film or something...
That's incredible that you got to see it when it came out as a kid. You're exactly the kinda person I want to talk to about this. I never moved onto plaugue dogs, so I will tell ScottyR37 about that. Thanks so much for checking in when you can.
I love Watership Down so much that I knew exactly where it was on my bookshelf despite not reaching for it for years! One try, and there it was. I plan to read it to my son, if he's still into Mom reading him books after his first decade of life.
I think once you get over spock /bones not looking or sounding like the originals and sulu trying too hard to be george today lol , the show is amazing. They did a great job with this show
