I too was very disappointed to not see a balls to the wall high speed take off that the original was capable of. Even though we might be talking about a fairly short show due to limited fuel, it would have been more than worth it, if only to give due homage to the many brave men who fought and died in it, trying to protect their home and families, and the men and women who died or were injured ( Hannah Rietsch) in testing and training flights. The idea that we do not have either a safe, proven, throttle-able rocket motor, or a turbine/s that could have been fitted to this replica, literally more than three quarters of a century later, is ridiculous. Given how small and light this replica aircraft is - less than 300kg - three or four off the shelf RC use commercially available turbines, about 24cm wide and 45cm long, weighing about 11kg each, would give this replica a thrust to weight ratio greater than 1:1 . Which means you could easily point it at the sky and watch it climb like a homesick angel. You could do that without even having to mess around with adding reheat ( US = an afterburner) to the exhaust... ( Which I admit I would happily pay to go see!) This performance was like watching a top fuel dragster car being towed by a tow truck and then rolled along by hand on the quarter mile track for the assembled crowd. It might be "safe" by nanny state standards, but it wasn't what it was originally built to do.... On 2nd of October 1941, Heini Dittmar set the world air speed record in one of these aircraft of 1,004.5 km/h, or .81 of the speed of sound. No turbojet aircraft anywhere in the world reached this speed until 1953...

6:05 you can really see what the LEX Fence does to protect the tail. This is an excellent demonstration, but it's still strange for me to see a Hornet flare to land.

Legenden müssen erhalten bleiben und fliegen. Dafür wurden sie geschaffen. Bei einer Airshow in UK habe ich Focke Wulf 190 und Me 109 gesehen und gehört. Der Sound dieser Oldtimer ist ein Erlebnis. Bei einer Show in Ramstein habe ich in den 1980er eine Spitfire bewundert, live. Ich glaube es war eine Version mit Merlin Motor. Kann das sein?

Un trés bel avion que j'adore, je souhaite le voir rapidement en meeting ou dans un salon aéronautique. La Suéde est un grand pays qui sait fabriquer du trés bon matériel qui n'a rien à envier au USA. Bonjour de France
High aerodymanic understanding and ingeneering ...Wings, Engines, Computers, Very High Tech but simple and basic , works better than 1 Million pen to work in space, tjhey use a pencil, and it works, fantastic, superp...i think as as german asshole...
Danke für das Lob! Ja, Flares geben solchen Displays immer die gewisse "Würze". Werden aber nicht überall gezeigt, wie z. Bsp. beim RIAT, wo sie wegen Brandgefahr verboten sind.

Not really when it comes to manoeuvrability which is what you want at an air show. 5th Gen rely on not being seen on radar and using weapons BVR. Only 5th Gen fighter worth seeing at an airshow is the F22. Typhoon in a clean config is something else
