Hayden Christensen is, in my opinion, a totally unique dude, especially during the screen tests. I got plenty of respect for him and his talents... just as I have respect for Jake Lloyd (who portrayed Anakin as a child in The Phantom Menace).
Sobeck: "I surrender." Tarkin: Blasts Sobeck Sobeck: "But, I surrendered!" Tarkin: Kills Sobeck Tarkin was brutal & never said a word. They should have kept that in.
It's so refreshing to be reminded of what it was like back then, in general and specifically with regard to Star Wars. It was popular and loved, but it wasn't the mega brand it is today. Nice to hear Carrie call the Gomorrian Guard just a "pig guard" because that's how I remember we looked at things back then - not everything had to be given a name or backstory, we just enjoyed the mystery.
His incredible attention to fine detail in every frame of every effects shot is very revealing as to why the story, characters, acting, and plot, are vastly lacking in every way. You know, the parts that make it a MOVIE…not a long, fancy video game cutscene.
But here's the thing about the death Star battle you got to remember what they were talking about at the very beginning of the battle like when wedge said look at the size of that thing and somebody said we're passing through their magnetic field hold tights which are deflectors on double front they're passing through some sort of force field that possibly gives them gravity remember what happened to Red leader he lost all his engines and he went down into the death Star that takes gravity so there had to be gravity closer to the death star's surface right when Darth Vader shot his last engine red leader crashed into the death Star if there was zero gravity he wouldn't do it he just drift off into space so I'm guessing when they got close enough to the death star to attack it they pass through a field of gravity like going through a an atmosphere on a planet
After watching these scenes, it is evident that the original writers and directors had a completely different original layout for the Escape from Teth, with scenes being moved around and as well as being added in. It would have been really cool to watch this version of the clone wars movie as well*^
The fact this ship even existed at all makes Captain Needa look like a fool in The Empire Strikes Back when he says "No ship that small has a cloaking device" when commenting about the Millennium Falcon disappearing from Imperial sensors.
Across the Stars is love personified in music without even a single lyric. To me it creates and conveys a feeling of such strong, unconditional, endless, and selfless love. I was not even 10 years old when i saw the movie. Yet i felt such a powerful feeling of admiration, joy, and hope when this plays and they kissed. Its the kind of romance that real men and women want in a true marriage. Also it playing instead of dialogue and the subtle zooming in and out during the end sequence was in the sound and camera department pure genius. The zooming in of Anakins new unfinished robot hand grabbing Padmes delicate human hand. That was for me a great yet sadly perhaps overlooked instance of forshadowing and symbolism. To anyone who missed it i encourage rewatching that wedding scene. Say what you will about George Lucas or the prequels but they had far more moments of brillance then headscratchers. There are very few movies as ambitious as the original six Star Wars films and despite critiques it was by no means an easy process behind the scenes. The new films or 7, 8, 9 without Lucas are such a testimony to how his directing was quite possibly overcriticized. This legend was the writer, director, and had input plus pretty much final say on everything. Thats alot of pressure that would break most people and i dont want imagine the feeling of outer and inside pressure to deliver he must have felt.
Across the Stars is so beautifully composed and one of the best backing tracks that meshs with the mood in cinema history. It's not even composed for an action sequence which Star Wars prequels are highly known. Its unique and amyone who has seen the prequels it from hardcore fan to casual fan could identify it. Its like the theme track for Rocky, The Breakfast Club use of "Dont you forget about me" the Halloween theme, etc.
I love this movie, I don't care how many people dislike that statement, I remember seeing it in my childhood and I also remember playing its adaptation for the first PlayStation. It was this movie that made me go to the cinema with my dad when I was nine years old to see Episode III. I love Star Wars.
Lucas turned against all the people and ex friends that helped him make the original trilogy, and look where that got him, the prequels backlash and then selling his creation to a cooperation. WTF was he thinking? Did his ego betray him?
