@@opokuoduroeric4182 The first three stanzas here are from John Goss' original harmonization, found in some English hymnals. The last stanza and the bridges are my own - I still need to write them down someday!
I absolutely love the mention of this town! My grandmother was clerk of Round Lake for many years (estimate 1960-1975). My grandparents raised my father there on Curry Avenue just off the Thruway (born 1941). It’s one of my favorite places in New York. She played at the Methodist church there in Round Lake. And she may very well have played this instrument. My grandparents lived just two blocks away. I gave a recital at her church back in 1984. And I got to hear this organ at many concerts that summer. So many great memories from my childhood and young adult life! Would love to go back and hear this instrument again. These musical memories fill me with much joy. To me, it’s part of my “home!”
I am an organist also sir. I will gladly appreciate sir, if I can get the way your modulated this song...with the minors and everything sir. You modulated from 2-flats to C-naturals with series of mysteries minor chords and it was super nice.. How did you do it sir, is there a sheet music for it?
Another incredible rendition, Craig. Being Welsh, I was wondering if you could do your version of Calon Lan? It would mean a lot, as it was played at my late grandfather's funeral.
What a great combo! I love Hyfrydol as the tune for "Jesus, What a Friend" and many other texts, but this (as I'm singing along at home) works equally well as the setting for "I Will Sing of My Redeemer." Is this your clever concoction? You deftly left the arranger out of the description =)
One of the most confusing, overly and excessively elaborate hymn harmonizations I have ever heard. If his goal was to befuddle and discourage people from singing, then he clearly met his goal.
It has some of the same energy as the famous David German Trumpet Tune - which, to my ears, faintly recalls triumphant movie music, like Superman or other movies (which, in those cases, is a good thing). I think this piece is more sophisticated than German's Trumpet Tune - also, one doesn't have to play in F# Major. 😆
Thank you for listening, Louis. This piece was published in late 2022, in a collection of Five Pieces. (I posted the "Prayer" from that collection on this page last year).
I didn’t know who Craig Williams was until I heard this; what an outstanding performance with the voices so clearly articulated and the rhythm so precise; I listened twice and subscribed.
@@waynesmith3767 Craig Williams is one of the freshest voices for professional organists online today. He wields No. 3 of the largest organs in the world at Cadet Chapel in West Point which is also the largest pipe organ in the world in sacred building!
@@SecretsofOrganPlaying thanks; I don’t follow organ music much but I really like Bach and the harpsichord; He playing is wonderful and he has a good harpsichord.
