Without knowing price will give it a 7. Would pay $600K max new. Not that much open deck/seating at the exterior aft or interior features for a 52 foot boat. But generally nice overall.
As a life long armchair new boat expert I would have to agree with pretty much everything you mentioned right on point. I was thinking exactly the same thing. My immediate impression reminded me of the smaller "Californian" trawlers from the 1980's that were I think about 35-40 feet. This boat is clearly functional and pleasing but feels small for a 54 and what would make or break this boat for me is the price. I would have guessed the price at $1.5 Million. (Doing a search to see what it actually is).... Estimated ... $685,271.00 to $1,062,050.00 Okay.. This really is a good price for this size boat if its quality and build are up to par. I noticed online it says they are actually built in Menorca Spain. Interesting.
Good design for a deck salon style of boat! Would be better if it was 46 feet long. To push back the cockpit and upper deck to allow for more head room in the two spare bedrooms. Great floor plan and sail plan for simplified sailing. Would easily compete with the moody 45 boats if it was 46 feet with bow and stern thrusters, and full controls at 3 helm stations. I like this boat at 42 feet very much, just wish it was a little longer.
I like like cats and DS designs that afford connectivity with the environment especially when cooking. However, this design leaves me wondering where you would store sufficient kitchen ware and provisions as a live-aboard.
I think they could have made better design choices. The layout is actually impressive... it’s like they need to hire an interior architect or designer or something. The proportions are just not appealing. It seems you could do the same amount of work and get a much better look if the design was good.
