I moved to Salt Lake City after college to learn speedflying. Upon compiling a list of American cities I could live in, after speedflying there’s only about 6 or so lol. Reno is probably in 2nd place for me after Salt Lake.
Parachute got stuck he threw a secondary parachute but he was already too close to the water so he fell in sure he was okay maybe a bit of poo and a bruise but he will be alright
So, there’s a lot going on here. I was training acrobatic paragliding over a lake. I was attempting to do what’s called a “Misty” i held brake for too long and also had my legs sticking out which caused me to get twisted. i then pulled the wrong brake which twisted me even more. At this point i should have thrown my reserve because of how low i was. but i got fixated on fixing the problem. I then let go of my right brake toggle and reach above the twist to grab my left brake line to exit the spiral. I pulled far too much left brake and caused myself to start tumbling (which is actually another acro move that can be done intentionally, i did it on accident) Then i realized how low i was and that i made a big mistake, and i threw my reserve parachute. If i would have hit the water in the spiral i might be dead, so not everything was bad about this. But i definitely need to train more and not allow this to happen again.
How long ago was it that the guy got banged up at sage? Wasn’t too long ago, a few months maybe. Did he have a full recovery? Do you know? Just curious
ah i think maybe my title was misleading. This is peavine peak in reno NV! I was just referring to the plants, not the paragliding site “sagebrush” i’ve not flown there but have been wanting to fly there as of lately! Not sure about any injured pilot though!

Life is not binary, it’s easy to get messed up and be miserable for the rest of your life. So don’t listen to this “what’s important it how you live” bs, make sure you are as careful and safe as possible. Life is long and being disabled sucks.
it worked great! I don’t fly paramotors anymore though so i gave it away with the paramotor. This was before any good purpose made helmets were really available
