To be fair, most people buying 5wt rods are interested in trout fishing. A “5/6 shooting head” probably isn’t the ideal line to evaluate this rod. Still enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work.✌️
Have you done or could you do a video on your general approach to finding these canal spots for tarpon. I live on the west side of Okeechobee and mostly fish west coast but might come east too if I understood better how to find spots. Such as how close to salt access, how far inland, show a sample map, etc. Thanks love the videos.
New sub here. Out of fly game for 9yrs... kids 🤷, but turning my 9yr old son into a fisher kid this Summer. Have him on my Cabela's Prime 5wt 7'3" fiberglass rod(my only fly rod I still have). These inexpensive fly rods make it more reasonable to consider getting my 9yr old and eventually the 3yr old into fly fishing. I could kit us all out for panfish and bass for less than a mid-tier rod and not cry when a rod breaks. Thanks for highlighting that even a $20 rod can get you on fish. Tight lines.
🌴 The fact that y’all were catching tarpon , you said you heard rumblings, it’s been raining like a week straight, on and off by me in St Pete , glad you caught something.
From what I have heard, the investors had different plans for the brand than the founders did. But they recently sold the company. The new owners are said to be putting in a lot of effort into the relaunch. But I hear they will also add a line of light tackle spinning rods.
@@Eric.Estrada lol this whole time I thought you were the owner man, but funny story I did some research and turns out I know the new owner, Steve, cool guy , we live in the same town
@@Danielwelds haha nah, the original operators were my friend's Titch and Blackwell, with big backing from a corporate partner. I did consult them when it came to developing the line of rods. Alex brought the entire fleet of blanks to put them to the test in the Everglades before going into production.
@@Danielwelds yes, the fender pointe hats will come back. I also had an issue with that same corporate backing that Renegade did so it slowed things down a bit, but at least I got to keep my company. Haha
This should be illegal. Eroding the american economy from the inside is insane to me. We're going to look back on these years as the most ignorant era of human history
The same factories making these rods are the ones making the rods sold by American companies. Very few if any actually make rods in the USA. Also, the guy's buying american rods are not going to be buying a $20 rod on Temu. The point of this video is to show that there is a low barrier to entry for someone looking to try it that doesn't have the funds to buy a high end rod.
Shopping on temu will destabilize the economy. Look at the impact walmart has had. Inflation is ludicrous, and 80 percent of the money made at Walmart goes straight to China. STOP WEAKENING THE AMERICAN ECONOMY JUST TO BUY CHEAP GARBAGE THAT WILL BREAK WITHON 6 MONTHS!!!! shame on you for posting this. Wake the f up, buddy.
I made a video a few months ago that describe how I find tarpon spots. But usually there's a feeder creek or culvert that leads to a canal that ultimately makes it's way to the intracoastal.
🌴 Whasss up ! Nothing huge today but it’s always fun exploring un fished ponds just to see what you can catch , providing someone doesn’t run ya off , could see a lot of flash’s , did that pond have a feeder creek ? 🤔
Peacock bass should not be removed. FWC introduced peacock bass into Florida waters in 1984 to help regulate all the invasive species living in the waters, as well as to create recreational fishing.
Like the simplicity of your patterns. Do you have any issues with corrosion with the B210S (i love these for freshwater, but they are not stainless, so I have not used them in SW patterns).
Thanks, as long as you don’t put a wet fly into a fly box, the hook will outlast the fly. But this is true for any fly. If you put a wet fly into a fly box, it’ll rust underneath the materials. I’ll use the same fly for months sometimes with zero rust issues.
