I got the front grill emblem for my Saturn Sky redline, and turned it into a Opal-sky redline !!! Mostly, it looks cool, and confuses people more than usual, as most folks don't know what car even is.
I'm seeing this video two years after it was posted, I've always loved the look of the wide body cabriolet without the tail, I'm an auto tech that used to service pre 90s Porsches, I had a customer with a 1984 cabriolet with an occasional no start issue, maybe once every week or two, I went over the car and suspected that there was an ECU problem but could not catch it in the act, I had another customer who was going to reluctantly loan me the ECU from his Carrera but before I did the no start problem appeared, while cranking I reached under the seat and tapped on the ECU with a screwdriver and it started, this was before OBD II making diagnosis more awkward, in this case the ECU position was helpful, I do see the issue with exposure to the elements, thanks for the video, the 84 - 89 was a great model, the Bosch injection was a nice improvement over the CIS, great car, thanks for posting the video.
Thanks for the heads up I was contemplating one for the cayman but for a start on the single large exhaust it would if looked even dafter and now I know it doesn’t work it’s just saved me €30 so thanks 👍
My 2004 986 Boxster S is great to drive but the electronics are absolute crap. Considering this was the car that saved Porsche from going to the wall ? . Makes you wonder how crap the older cars were. 👍
From the style of the speedometer with the "skylight" on the front part of the housing and the elongated (as opposed to a round ball) shifter knob, the Ford in tbe video is a 1954. And the fanciest one at that, a Crestline Crown Victoria 2-door hardtop with the skylight roof. A person was a cut above --economically-- the usual Ford buyer back then if he/she had the money to buy such a model so tricked out with so much extra chrome plus options like the clear roof and Fordomatic Drive (and possibly a windshield washer, top of the line AM radio, and Master Glide Power Steering, the last denoted on a flattened part at the bottom of the horn ring). Not wishing to sound too critical, but the video doesn't do so great a car justice.
I loved/hated my sky. Couldn’t find the turbo version down in Florida that wasn’t hundreds of miles away and not automatic. So was lucky enough to find a 2.4 manual. Drove the nuts off of it 😂
As the body of my Boxster was blue, I placed bright blue Trim Strips on the doors and on the console. This is the most beautiful effect and also gives a little touch of colorful atmosphere at night.
You can search for the Saturn Sky\Pontiac Soltice meet in RU-vid, under "North America Saturn Sky Annual Meet" (NASSAM), i may have distorted it, unabbreviated. It'll be something like that if wrong.
Part of GM (General Motor) restructure out of bankruptcy, they had to remodel their products. Saturn, Pontiac, and thus Opel was removed from production. The car is a fantastic car, and didn't get a chance to see its full potential. - Sky Redline owner - (In United States, this car is treasured, hardly driven, garaged, hold its resale value very well, There "was" an annual Kappa meet in US, but because of Covid, it stopped in 2020. Not sure if there will be one this year, 2021.
