Afalava's film should be Rated-R. He's just mauling dudes and punching the ground after burying his defender.😂I think I need to report a few murders. That was brutal.
I commented on this yesterday on your video. I didn't hear you say anything about Max Protect in this video??? Was the SEC teams running max protect also last year against each other? Those ratings mean nothing to me because you are comparing teams from two different leagues. And yes, I know the SEC overall is stronger than Big 12 was.
If we expanded to all P-4 leagues our edge group would still be at the bottom of every statistical efficiency category. They ranked somewhere in the 60s out of 80-ish teams. Even if teams are running max protect or 6+ blockers. Other teams are finding success as opportunities exist for pass rush wins. OU has to capitalize on those opportunities. The number for max protect (more than 6 blockers) is minimal at 5-15% of total plays for each team.
I think I mentioned in one of your shorts that I am looking forward to what Caden does. I dont think we will see max protect as often this season. It is the SEC, so that might not matter against some of the O-lines we go up against. Against Texas, first game of season we didn't see max protect we had 5 sacks, and two of those belong to E Downs. 👍👍👍
That wasn’t a knock on Bowman. He’s your ballhawk safety you want flying sideline to sideline. I believe RSJ has 20-30lbs on Bowman. That’s who you want to be your alley defender that brings the Thunder in the run game.
I have to disagree about the edge group being better. The first time they didn't see max protect was against Texas, in which they had 5 sacks. A little too much emphasis is put on sacks. The edge group will be better this year and we likely won't see max protect near as much during league play. Where were we on qb pressure or hurries? I'm happy we got this guy, but there are some talented guys on that d line.
Competition breeds fear of losing reps/snaps/opportunity. It makes every rep of every practice matter. It forges consistent perfection. Its why the best players seek it out.
Every night should be steak night! Carnivore is the best diet!!!! I dropped 50lbs from 330lbs down to 280 in 3 months on carnivore and have never felt better in my life! 👍👍👍 I dont think it will be a rebuild year, Patty seems to be excited about putting together next year's team.
If experience matters, OU will do just fine this year. Those OL are new to OU, not new to football, and all of those transfer OL were quality guys, multi year starters, and some were national/conference award winners, ffs. We didnt randomly select 5 transfers and hope foe the best. 😂These are quality pieces that will be at Coach BB's disposal. If youre an opponent and smart that should frighten you. Our OL wont suck.
I was an instant subscriber after your ranch/salt grass/chilis position group rankings, and the OL statistical analysis you did on this episode for like 45 minutes was unparalleled in anything I had ever seen
Thanks for subscribing Clay! Stay tuned my friend. We’ve got a lot more coming. We’re just getting our feet wet. Our Data scientist is working hard in the background getting all kinds of good stuff ready for this coming season!
@@claypennington602 thanks man! Appreciate that! AND If you know of any yt channels that would be a fun collab or any fun ideas email us at rob@championstandard.com
@@ChampionStandardOK will do, I follow almost all of them, and I think you could participate on any you wanted with that kind of analysis. Look out for an email tomorrow (same name from a gmail account)
I watched post game 2 and several of the players as well as their coach went on about the noise advantage. Next year is going to be fun beating them again.
Year 3 under S&C coach Jerry Schmidt will erase a lot of concerns on the OL. No one is giving him a second thought. Its kind of funny. We are officially course-correcting the hot yoga embarrassment LR created when he fired Schmidt. Well, he's back and in yr 3 of his program...Expect gains. We'll be getting back to our dominant OL play sooner rather than later.
good show guys. i have been saying we can put this together and make a run the skill players are there we can always max protect and still get guys open with the WR we have on this roster. We play better when everyone thinks we are going to lose.
I lose my voice when I attend OU games and it usually takes me a full week to get it back. I have my whole section getting loud, responding to my “BOOMER!”s… I yell with my hands cupped around my mouth, pointing right at the opponent’s QB and huddle, every chance I get. I clap like a sporadic whip whenever the opponent is pre-snap. Dead silent on Sooner drives, until there’s something to celebrate. I treat it like a job when I go to the games. You don’t pay money to be a passive observer… you pay for the privilege of impacting the game to the best of your ability. Be better, OU fans. Be louder. Be a part of the team. Combined, we have the power to help impact the game. LET’S GOOOOO!
I like you take on the TEs and I thought the OL evaluation was fair (although Sexton is a projected day one guy and you said we don’t have any day 1-3 guys). But I think you were low on our RBs. Sawchuck can be a 1000+ yard back this season , and before the injury Barnes had similar talent. Hicks has vastly improved over last year, and can make that first man miss and has speed. Behind them we have a bunch of good backs also. That’s above Charlestons grade
Great pod guys! I really enjoyed your breakdown of Damonic Williams tape against texas. This year's defense is definitely the most talented group we've had in Norman since 09. I feel like with our group of safeties and having the length and experience we have at CB is going to turn into a lot of INTs. Boomer Sooner
