@@lynneglazzard5910 I appreciate you sending me your thoughts. Yes, that sounds like a great plan to dive in to the world of artists books more with someone you know.
this was so interesting. I have made my own brushes & had some surprising results too. I liked what you said about not judging the marks a brush will make before they are made.
Absolutely beautiful work I ❤ it so much ....I am now going to binge watch more of your brilliant talent....I have liked and subscribed to show support for your channel hugs from Scotland 🤗
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! Your work is beautiful and inspiring. I haven't made a book since I was in design school 20 years ago. I'm going to use this technique for a sketchbook as I've just started making art again. Can't wait to play with colors and paper.
Simply exquisite - enriched my day by watching your colour palettes and structure of the book. Thank you for sharing this and putting in the work to enable us to see your creation in such a well-crafted video.
This is a stunning piece of fine art. I dabble in this and that media but I always come back to making artists books. I just finished a one signature book that I made for a friend, it was based on an Edwardian aesthetic . What I love about your book is the cohesiveness of the theme you've used two major elements the color blue and the U shape and added what I would call some commentary (white gel handwritings, some rust accents, etc.) that add interest. I could talk about piece forever and I know I will be revisiting it frequently, it touched me so deeply. I have subscribed and belled your name and look forward to spending a few days looking at all your work. Best wishes. PS I didn't mention the origin of the title because this comment will end up being a book but suffice it to say BRAVA!
Beautifully done, thank for sharing all 3 RU-vids with us. ⭐️I’m happy I have just found you and now I have subscribed to your Channel … thank you , your art is stunning !!!
Fabulous mark making, thanks for sharing! All of them lined up in the beginning looks so pretty too! Inspired to explore the woods, and make a multi brush tool 🤩
I love this so much! I started painting in old books several years ago and just started making zines out of old papers. I also went back to school and have learned printmaking and I am trying to mix them all. I love book art! Thank you for sharing your beautiful book and for sharing the meaning behind it. It is just beautiful!
That’s a good question and difficult to answer as I have never considered selling this one. It was my first artist’s book and I have a general rule that I keep for myself my first of anything I make. That said, if I look at the no. of page spreads as each being artworks in their own right, and the no. of hours/days that went into the making over several months… the asking price would be many thousand. My artists books from a single sheet of watercolour paper (different RU-vid video) sell for about $500.
Loved this video! I have a nice collection of dry grasses, seed pods, feathers… You really inspired me to start making brushes. I love the idea of the rope & thought maybe splaying the ends a bit might make it really interesting. Thanks for sharing!!
Awesome to hear - I love how good ideas propagate from one artist to another… not sure if I mentioned it in the video but Lorna Crane has beautiful handmade brush ideas too! Enjoy. ☺️
Those are beautiful! We just have tan clay here, but lots of oak trees. I think I’ll try burying some paper in oak leaves and let the rainy season work on them.
Is it possible to make a book finished size larger than you show? With the one piece of folded paper, the book side is determined by the size of the paper. Could you connect another sheet, folded and cut… and make the book larger?
@@1sunnydeb yes, you have total freedom on the starting size and how many additions you make. I think I’m a creature of habit with some things - I start have been doing the one full sheet of water colour for a while - just love that size!
Such a sublime piece of art. Everything about it is beautiful and spiritual. I don't know what took youtube so long to suggest this video but I'm thankful for finally seeing and for your sharing.
Love concertina books! This is a nice, clear, tutorial showcasing your beautiful artwork. Love the colors you chose for this project. New subbie here! 💜
Wonderful, thank you Debbie! Do you make concertina books yourself? I love doing them for traveling sketchbooks ☺️ I’ve got a video on using natural earth pigments you might like.
