Thanks for posting! I also live in 8b and your video answered my question of where to best plant it because Texas summers can be 3 digits. Thankfully, it's dry heat and can cool off in the evenings and early mornings. I initially thought I would have to plant it in a planter. Enjoy your plants! 😊
Great video my sago seeds 6 out of 10 are growing well. My question is: now that plant drawn is close to a foot tall, but still in same pot as in your video. What is the next step ? Cover seed after moving to larger container ? Leave seed uncovered in larger container. Or just leave Seed uncovered as germinated, in small container till roots appear out bottom of container like you have in video.? Thanks for a fun experiment and lasting accomplishment in gardening
Hey Perry, I would transfer the plants to larger containers but leave the seeds above ground as the seed marks the base of the plant and should not be buried below the soil for best growth results my friend, great job germinating your seeds.
Thanks for update. Couldn't have made the start without your guidance. I would have buried the seed. (If I had even known to crack the shell.) Now it makes sense that nature wouldn't have buried the seed. I got the momma plant when she was in a 1 gallon container. That was 20 yrs ago. She makes it through freezes other loose frawns over. Thanks to you and momma plants good DNA Even my non - green thumb can't stop. Thanks again the momma won't cringe next time I take her seedlings.
LION!!! Brotha tell y I just uploaded a lil shirt on this and then I RU-vid finally recommended this wonderful video. Brotha I can bear witness to this. It’s like the best honey suckle from HEAVEN!!! Best thing frfr. Peace N Love
Nothing like it Twitty!! A rare treat! I look forward to my banana plants flowering, for both the bananas and the nectar. Glad that you and yours got to sample it firsthand.
Did your leaves change color? My Georgia Jets leaves are turning purple/reddish. I'm closing in on 120 days. They're still putting out new leaves (slower rate now but still coming in). It's getting down o the 40-50s at night but still in the 70s during the day. I'm thinking i should harvest before the first frost or should i let the leaves die back more? In zone 7a/b. Thank you for any insightor assistance!
Greetings my friend, I totally agree with you, you definitely want to harvest before your first frost date. To answer your question, yes some of the leaves changed colors, purplish, orange, yellow, even brown. But neither flowers or leaf color truly determines harvest time. 100-120 days of growth is sufficient for most varieties of sweet potatoes, thanks for watching!
@@TheGreenThumbGardeningChannel i really appreciate you taking the time. This is my first season for sweet potato & gardening in general, I can't get enough of it. This season has taught so me so much. I could not have done it without great teachers sharing invaluable knowledge such as yourself. Even small bits of information make a big difference! Please keep up the great videos and sharing your experiences. It's making a difference. I'll give you a follow & try to check in when I finish harvest. Have a fantastic week!
@@TheGreenThumbGardeningChannel that’s awesome! Thanks for telling me. I have a keitt mango here can’t wait to eat it & get the seed from it. Have a great weekend bro💯
Yes they can grow to extraordinary lengths under the right grow conditions, I used to have one in my apartment in Florida about 30 years ago that sat on top of my entertainment center that grew up to the ceiling and around the corners of the living room well over 22’ This one is tiny compared to that one.
Hey thanks Brett, got plans for growing this fall and winter in the greenhouses, made some huge changes for timed irrigation, heat and lighting, thanks brother.
Yessir, yessir! What a recap video. I have really appreciated learning from ya this year as always. U already know I dig the lyrics and the tunez! Tht speaks to the soul. Peace N Love Lion
Peace be with you always Twitty! I truly appreciate ya brother! Hey do you already have mulberries in your food forest? If not I’ll be pruning my black mulberry tree in about another month and I’ll take the two largest and healthiest cuttings and root them for you and send them to you, they should do well in your grow zone.
@@TheGreenThumbGardeningChannel that’s wassup brotha man! I’d appreciate that. If you’re interested in Java Plum, I have some cutting that are rooting as well and can be shipped out soon. Peace N Love
Greetings Dr. Elzer and thanks for watching this video. I don’t sell pecan trees but I’ll gladly give you a couple of small soft shelled pecan trees, they are a around a year old if I’m not mistaken, I’ll pot them up for you and contact you on this post in a few days with my contact information.
Hi Laura and thanks for watching this video! I mixed miracle gro moisture control potting soil and composted cow manure with the ground soil in that location which was red clay. I used epsom salt and water (1 tbsp per gallon) to fertilize them with every 10 days up until 2 weeks prior to harvest time.
This year has been an exception for my vine Brett, the Gulf Fritillary and the Zebra Long Wing butterflies 🦋 make it virtually impossible to successfully grow passion fruit fruit unless grown in a greenhouse or under netting, they totally decimate the plants here.
Greetings V, the insect damage to the leaves is to be expected here in southern Georgia due to the fact that our dry season begins in late July and ends in late October, when insect populations are at their peak. However, we don’t consume the leaves themselves and the minor damage that the insects do when feeding on the leaves has no affect on our overall harvest.
Born and raised in Mississippi I was walking the other day in spotted some so I'm looking them up now to see what they are used for are they harmful what's up
Hi Rena and thanks for watching this video! These tiny little melons 🍉 are juicy, sweet and delicious, not harmful, the tiny size can be achieved by introducing nitrogen to your plants after the melons have set on the vines and have grown to the size that you wish for them to ripen at, also reduce the amount of water that you give your plants by about 1/3 for the remainder of the ripening process.
@@TheGreenThumbGardeningChannel trust and believe me I'm going to try and grow them can you grow them from the seeds that you get out of them?? In the ones that I picked up is white inside do they have to sit up for so many days to turn red
Hey thanks Bobby, they are actually fairly easy to grow, just a bit tricky in getting the plants to produce fruit if you are not familiar with the process of growing bananas 🍌 thanks for watching this video!
Greetings Jack and thanks for watching the video! Actually no it doesn’t but like virtually any type of plant, if left unkept for years you will indeed end up with quite a massive clump of ginger!
Good morning to you Vicky, I pray that you are feeling well and having far more time outdoors in your gardens, we are entering the dry season here and rainfall is becoming scarce, will be doing far more gardening in my greenhouse than in the gardens as Fall approaches our area.
@@TheGreenThumbGardeningChannel All I have is herbs now! The Peppers have slowed down and my Nadapenos aren't ready yet! I'm looking to get your seeds out next month. After July I won't have to deal with the pricey meds anymore. YAY!
