ALABAMA BAND: MOUNTAIN MUSIC TOUR 1982: In 1982 on the Mountain Music tour I met drummer Mark Herndon during a break of the band playing softball 🥎 against the local radio station DJ’s. I was a beginning drummer and asked him how to play the fast part on Mountain Music. He showed me with his hands on his legs explaining it was a paradiddle-diddle between the kick and snare 🥁. He said to learn it slowly listening to Ride the Train from the Feels So Right album. I’ll never forget how kind he was to a young drummer and a total stranger! I’ll always love the Alabama band!

I will always love Excile - showing my age obviously but I grew up with them - some of my best memories are of them practicing in the garage in Kentucky. They played my high school “sock hops” as we called them!
Just because Pennington wrote a few songs that c& w singers made hits he wanted to go country while it seems Jimmy Carr Stokley who actually founded this band stayed with soft rock! 2 big hits toured all over but was kicked out! These peeps still singing the 2 songs he made famous for & have never had a hit!! Karma baby!! I think the C & W hits were by a single singer not gonna work for a band DUH!
Those songs were written as pop songs, when Exile were still a pop band and Stokley was already out at that point. It was later when various country artists recorded them they easily transitioned into a country band. They had 10 #1 hits on Country radio that still get played and Exile are still a successful live act.
That just shows how much you know about Nashville Country music. Jeannie Seely is a mainstay. Do some research before you make statements showing how much you don’t know.
@@anj3595 a mainstay of the Opry, nothing more. I've nothing against the lady but she was never a mainstream country star and she never had a #1 hit. Dispute anything I said as being factual.

She is a songwriter of recognition and was a singer on many very valuable songs and valued by many hitmakers. “Relegated”??!! Where are you from? Country Music does not = #1 hits.

Ive knew this man for a long time since, at least 1979 in myrtle beach sc when I lived there. Went too all his concerts got his signature on alot of stuff picture made with him have all his albums still signed by him. And I am so glad the good has brought him out from where he was yrs ago when he was sick. I've committed so many times hoping he reads his fans comments for him to comment too me guess he doesn't but he is still a great singer in my eyes . My old friend John ,God bless you man 🥰❤🙏👍👌👆 maybe one day you will comment to me .
