We run the UK's digital network. We're the people who connect homes, mobile phone masts, schools, shops, banks, hospitals, libraries, broadcasters, governments and businesses - large and small - to the world.

It's our mission to build the best possible network with the highest quality of service, and make sure that everyone in the UK can be connected.

Is it true that Openreach is only supplying ultra fast broadband to places that have an existing fibre network, and that those places with only copper ADSL and no fibre will never be connected to fibre?
@ELPaso1990TX
@ELPaso1990TX 7 месяцев назад
We’ve been promised fibre broadband for the last 5 years. All we have is extremely slow copper broadband. We get around 8Mbps at best. We can’t work from home, stream tv, do gaming. Each year they told us we’d have to wait another 12 months. Now they’ve completely removed our estate from the Openreach build plans meaning we won’t be getting any fibre broadband at all. Don’t believe what they say. They’re cutting 55,000 jobs, the roll out is slowing and more people are being left disappointed and not even given a basic fibre connection. They’re only giving ultrafast fibre to those places with existing fibre. Don’t believe that 25 million homes will be connected to fibre by Dec 2026, pure fantasy, when they won’t give our estate any kind of fibre bb, were permanently stuck with useless copper BB now and 55,000 Openreach jobs are being cut.

YEAH AMAZING HOW THE NEIGHBOUR COMING FROM THE SAME POLE AS US CAN GET 60MBPS AND OUR HOUSE GETS 13MBPS AND OPEN REACH AND BT ARE NOT WILLING TO INVESTIGATE FOR US. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST.

Is it standard practice for an open reach engineer to ring my doorbell asking me to contact my factor to give them permission to carry out work nobody has asked them to do?
@ELPaso1990TX

Our area only has 8Mbps, standard copper broadband. We don’t even have FTTC. We have no kind of fibre at all. Every year since 2021, Open Reach says they will deploy full fibre to our area within 12 months. Each year it’s the same false promise, except in December 2023 they said we’d now have to wait 2 YEARS at the earliest! We don’t even know if we’ll ever get full fibre. All we want is some kind of fibre connection. 30Mbps would be a luxury compared to our 8Mbps. Both towns either side of us have Fibre and full fibre, we’ve got nothing. Just copper. We can’t work from home or study from home, can’t use zoom, can’t do gaming. Our broadband is a joke and we’re paying the same price as people with fibre. All we want is a basic fibre connection as we’re very doubtful if we’ll ever get full fibre. Maybe it’s time to prioritise those places with no kind of fibre at all.

Just a shame that all the CP’s are pushing forward with the FTTP rollout without first finding a solution to the fact that in a power cut your digital VOIP service will not work alongside your care alarms, no power = no router, no router = no digital voice or data services. Plus giving a mobile phone to an elderly person who has probably never used one is tantamount to washing your hands of the problem. Stop miss selling FTTP!!!!

Any plans to bring it to where I live in Walsall? Part of the urban sprawl connected onto the 2nd city of the U.K.? Or just rural areas?

I work for Openreach, part of the East Anglia CE Team. My partner and I drove through Ketton only this Sunday just gone to celebrate her firth mother's day. I immediately said to my partner I'd love to live here. As a big road cyclists, there are plenty of amazing cycling routes around this area. This company gives you opportunities to cycle to your place of work. This is something I'll be doing this year cycling most days to Market Deeping. It is great to see Openreach leading the way to support the more rural communities. Keep up the great work 👏🏼

Hi @colinreid2892, If you check out our website at www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/where-when-building-ultrafast-full-fibre-broadband you'll see that the Wishaw exchange (near Glasgow) is in our full fibre plans. We can't give a firm date yet, as there's lots of planning and complexity involved, but if you enter your postcode into our fibre checker and register your details, we'll keep you updated as and when our plans firm up!

You should improve upload 220Mbps to 1Gbps
@OpenreachOfficial
@OpenreachOfficial Год назад
Thanks for the feedback @djdanny9000. This is certainly something we're looking at - we find that at the moment, most people are really happy with an upload speed of 220Mbps (unless you're a heavy duty gamer or video editor), and download speeds of up to 1Gbps, but we're always investing in the network. Keep an eye on our website for any updates.

@@OpenreachOfficial Talking about that, is the 220mbps for everyone that has access to Full Fibre? I also saw that people only get up to 110mbps for their property. I reckon this is to do with newer builds.
@OpenreachOfficial
@OpenreachOfficial Год назад
@@Moshimulations It depends on the package that you select from your chosen service provider as they can provide different upload and download speed combinations to their customers. Our current FTTP technology allows up to 1Gbps download and up to 220Mbps upload speeds.
