Loved that video, my knees still bleading :) I will definitely try your tactics.. I use the same fanatic board, why it cuts like hell our knees ?! So sad to having this problem. First day I use that board like a paddle board, my nipples was bleeding at the end of the day 😂
This swell generated a lot of comments people saying that this was the biggest it's ever been.... Well that's not true. For half a day back in 1992 when hurricane iniki hit Kauai , Fright trains was the biggest its ever been pushing 30 to 40 foot sets easily, i lived in waikapu less then a mile away and it turned on like never before 4 times this big and breaking another 1/4 mile out towards McGregor's point. Unfortunately there's no footage of it that I know of... it was perfect and offshore for a good half of the day and then it turned off as fast as it appeared. True story and only a handful of people may remember that.
I remember that day, I was loaded up in the driveway about to head over to the south side when my the very pregnant wife said "I heard its really big, I don't want you to go". I never saw how big but heard from my firends.
Best video of anything I've seen in a minute. Pure paradise! I'm only a weekend or 2 away from my first hydrofoil wing experience. I couldn't ride out a dock start after 100 or so tries, so I built an 80 liter board, hoping to finally ride the foil set out, pulled by a 5 meter wing.
Great video! Which ML foil did you use when you were fastest on flatwater? What is the max. speed with this foil and what length of mast are you using. Thanks for the reply.
Another trip of a lifetime, world class watersports a long way from anywhere. Loved the flat water sailing and spin gybe progression, The complete package with coaching and good friends.
It’s just like when Richard Whyte discovered and perfected the duck gybe in windsurfing! Looks like an epic adventure Alan! I like how you showed on the map where you were going and all the steps you had to take to get there. Getting there is half the fun!
Love your channel. Thanks for sharing this. I've been struggling with getting backwinded when gybing in somewhat higher speeds. This made me think this could be what is happening. Excited to try next time on the water. Juuhuuu! 🤙
Kwajalein has plenty contracting work there. Done 2 rounds - 10yrs apart. Plenty time there but 2o21 was a Wild Times so... I left on my own 2 feet, NOT "on my knees". 🙄
When I think of a duck jibe I can't help but think of windsurfing or dinghy sailing when you duck under the boom as it swing across the boat. This is different. LMK if you are able to do it.
I love my 4.0 slick sls, the only issue i have is that my hands get bad blisters from grabbing the boom. Am i doing sth wrong, should i try an easier grip? Or wear summer gloves?
Make a conscious effort to grip the boom/handles but don't squeeze the boom. A relaxed hold is best. Long hours will can cause blisters. If you are not using a harness, you might want to try one, it will take the load off your arms and hands. Gloves are good for the short term till your blisters heal but gloves can cause forearm fatigue. Hope this helps.
Hello Allan, I followed your pointers many years ago with primarily windsurfing. For 30 years I've windsurfed, kiteboarded, kite foiled and this year I'm finally going to start Winging. I'm 148 pounds and purchased a 99L board. I noticed at 140lbs you are on a 140L board? Wow. I hope I can do this. Excellent video
Hey Alan, RU-vid says I'm subscribed to your channel, but I can't log in to your page. I don't appear to have paid anything in recent months on my credit card, so have tried to resubscribe but get the message that I'm not allowed to join your subscription. It does not make any sense to me. Please investigate or explain if you know what's happened.
Aloha Philip, I see your name on my patreon.com list of supporters. I can only see that you are current on your February pledge. You are trying to login on Patron.com correct? Not RU-vid. Lmk, Alan
