Hey everyone, Brandon here. This channel is dedicated to one of my best buds, Chase Hancock, who I lost to cancer in 2020. We both loved Roadkill, Vice Grip Garage and all the other good ones. We both always talked about starting our own channels, doing revivals, tech videos and such. He can’t but I can. Here’s to you Chase, hope your up there watching and poking fun when necessary!!
The purpose of this channel is to share my garbage with the rest of the diy guys and gals out there. My full time job is restoring trucks, cars, bikes, tractors or whatever catches my eye. If you like random junk follow along, if you dont,,,,move along.
it goes into those slots on the sides of the lower unit forward of the prop. best way to test run it would be to just back it into the water at the boat dock and leave it strapped to the trailer with the bottom of the motor in the water.
@@BrokenWrenches ok. I know where you’re talking about. It’s like 3 slot lines on top of each other. I’m selling it and someone interested want me to show them the engine runs.
I have this exact motor. It’s a boat that was given to me. I have no idea how to check if the motor works because I don’t know where the water goes in to cool the engine. And I know that you can’t start the engine without the water going through the cooling system.
both parts are super rigid, you can spin the the torque converter up against the flexplate and it will usually make little scuff marks to help center the drilled holes. you drill the holes a little oversized just like the factory holes and when your putting it together permanently you just gradually snug each bolt a little at a time while rotating the engine and wiggling the converter a little… as long as the bolts draw down equally and your drill holes are reasonably close your good to go.
1996 is when the Express came out ive had 4 of them now including 24 with 6.6 l L8T 400 small blook 401 hp with new 8 speed trans.. There is no room under the hood engine cover on this one.
nice build.. that looks as clean as my 2024 6.6 l Express extended barn door cargo van with 400 miles and less than 8 hrs on it now. I'm sure it will last you decades.
Great video, thanks man! I knew it would start right out. Back in about 1994 a guy that I knew had one of these sitting in his yard on flat, dry rotted tires. Finally one day I stopped over there I decided to ask him if he wanted to sell it. He said that it had been sitting in his yard for 8 years and he would be glad to sell it. He said give me $50 and it's yours. I couldn't get the money out of my wallet quick enough. LOL! I tinkered with a for a little bit and got it started on one cylinder. The tire shop (family business) that I managed at that time was right down the street so I rode it to the shop and locked it up. When I came in to work the next day I started cleaning it up, cleaning the tank, cleaning the carburetors and I installed new points and changed the oil of course. I found some old used dirt bike tires that we had laying around the shop that fit it so I put those on it with new tubes. It didn't take much at all and that thing ran like a sewing machine! I was surprised how fast it was for such an old bike! My brother has a 1986 Honda 250R that he bought brand new. He and I had some really good races! My old SL-350 was neck and neck with his 250R until I was topped out in fifth gear. Then he would shift into sixth gear and start pulling away slowly. I think he paid around $2800 for his 1986 250R so I was extremely proud of my $50 SL-350! That bike was so much fun and it was extremely comfortable to ride! Event when my best friend and I used to take it out almost every night and ride up and down the dry wash here in Tucson. Even with two of us it was comfortable, it was fast and it was fun! Best $50 I've ever spent! Thanks again for the cool video! You earned my sub!
thats an awesome story…. !!!!!! i’ve recorded some new videos on this bike that i will be putting out here before. getting it running good, new side covers, new clutch, new cables sets, a new seat and more cleaning. once i get it running and operating good i plan to give it a proper 100% restoration. i appreciate you watching!!!
@@BrokenWrenches It was an awesome bike, that's for sure! Yeah, I wish I had restored mine. I'll be watching for the other videos. Thanks again and best of luck with it!
thanks for watching. my super tired old 350 was getting 5mpg at best. the new engine i would guess at least 15mpg. it was such a drastic difference that i thought my gas gauge quit working because the fuel use dropped so much 😂
@BrokenWrenches That's amazing. My 1978 Chev Van G20 with 350 engine maybe gets 7 or 8 mpg. I always thought it was due to the big Rochester 4MV carburetor that sucks gas like a vacuum.
Hello, I'm currently working on a 68 Buick wildcat with a 430 unfortunately the previous shop that took the car apart lost some pieces. Missing all brackets for the A/C-alternator. In total I believe there are two brackets required and three what look to be shims? Not having the parts I'm just going off what l'm finding on the internet. Would you possibly have what I need? If so would you sell them. Thank you very much for your time,
there should be a little gold valve on the evaporator hardline on either side of the firewall. its called an expansion valve, it has a little wire with a temperature bulb on the end. as temperature of lines get colder or hotter it allows more or less freon through the system.
I am using the same ict swap plates as you and I measured the hole to hole distance for the mounts, The engine is 16 5/8"" The mounts in the 88 g10 van have a hole to hole of 18 1/8" Do you have any idea of what I have done wrong. I took out the 4.3 mount towers and am using 350 mount towers Thanks for your help
This was really one of the most informative videos I've seen. I just acquired my 60 starliner been looking for quite a while for a clean one. But anyhow will that video explanation work for putting in four power windows add an electric fan? Or do I need to make a bigger plate and add more relays?
starliner is an amazing machine… you can make modifications to the design to suit your needs. this panel design gives you a place to run all your switched power circuits to a central location that is fuse protected. what you will want to do is mount a relay in the engine bay for the fans and use this panel to control that relay. you can do the same with power windows. you will find a setup like this very helpful on your starliner.
Short shoe ALWAYS goes toward the front. The larger primary does most of the braking and ALWAYS goes toward the rear. Lubricant the backing plate nubs with a little anti-seize as well. Good video. Maybe the wheel is backwards.
To be funnier and have a good since of humor Love your car and videos too your doing a great job to as well making these videos donuts are good love fat man food lol just be your self bro but be funny make people laugh it’s fun makes you and us happy and feel good and too forget about all our problems too laughter is the best medicine for our soul and life and just have a great time bro
I got scammed by my repair guy, he replaced the break switch and the new one he put in still was doing the same thing. I found your video and did the fix and it worked perfectly, From now on I'm doing my own work
im sorry you were taken advantage of. it happens ALL THE TIME. thats why i do videos like this occasionally!!! don’t be afraid of doing your own research and doing your own work. take your time, search youtube for how to videos and save yourself some money. you will feel pretty good when you start learning to do your own work.
This just happened to me 5/18/24 I struggled so long with a pack of bushings from advance auto, after finding this video I still had some trouble but here are some tips. 1 Use a 10mm socket and insert the clip end of the bushing into the 6point side and on the other end I used a 6in extension. 2 I then used this to push the bearing onto the top of the trans point (whatever it’s called the little ball). 3 the shift cable end is bigger than the bushing so you should have no problem putting it over the bushing. 4 then I just used the retention clip. Kinda long sorry but this is what worked very thankful for the video also my car was in L gear PRND3L
I had to replace the ring gear on my ‘51 8N last summer. Ended up taking it to an industrial machine shop and they couldn’t get it on, said it was egg shaped even after heating red hot. I ordered a 2nd one, still didn’t want to go on so I asked about chucking the flywheel in a lathe and cutting down the flywheel. A couple thousands and they said they were going to ask me if they could do it. I said yes and it worked and ring gear has not sipped any. I think the steel used to make the ring gears just doesn’t want to expand when heated.
Really excellent series and build, I had no problem understanding or knowing what you were doing here. Ive done a couple engine swaps but havent done a van. Keep it up!
Replace that rubber fuel line with a steel one. 🔥 Available from Yesterday’s Tractor website. They are already present but may require some tweaking with a tubing bender.
Love your 54 project! Please contact me with info where i can discuss with you about doing a 53 chevy truck for me. Are you in Texas? I'm in El Paso. Very respectfully Bob mason
