In my opinion, a much more interesting and memorable piece than his _Incandescence de la bruine,_ which seems to get played so much. An absolute tour de force by the soloist -- bravo!
Given that Brahms designated his clarinet sonatas could also be played on viola, I'm sure that, had he been able to hear playing like this, he would have approved this piece to be played on bari as well.
