Hey watch enthusiasts! This is a watch channel about my journey as a collector, and the endless pursuit of a perfect collection. When I find a watch, I will review it so you can decide if you want to hunt one down yourself! Email me at threehandhunter@gmail.com if you want to inquire about reviews, collaborations or just to talk watches!
I just got into watch collecting. I've loved watches since I was young but I never had anyone teach me or bring deeper into the world. MAMACOO brought closer to a community and hobby I always wanted to get into more and that is incredibly meaningful to me !
Your statement that all automatic watches have a see through case (or technically called a exhibition case) is incorrect, an automatic watch can have a regular case. Now the easiest way to spot wether a watch is a Quartz or a mechanical/automatic is the way the seconds hand moves, 1. If the seconds hand moves a second every second chances are 99% it’s a quartz; 2. Mechanical//automatic watches have a sweeping seconds hand; All automatic watches are mechanical. Difference between a automatic and mechanical is that automatic have one extra part that moves freely as you move and it winds the spring to create power ✌️
I have had both J and Ks of the 007 and 009s over the years and the J versions were quite common in the UK back when produced! The strange thing is the J versions used to have the seiko 5 badge in the box ! I believe the J version was a little higher quality than the K and i have never had a J version with any alignment issues either and i also think the Js were better regulated at production ? All this may only relate to the 5 ive had though??
Yes, I have bought from MAMACOO more than once. I even bought a new Omega Speedmaster which came with the fancy box and packaging. I am thrilled with all my purchases here. I would purchase from MAMACOO again for sure.
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the AMZWATCH has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
Is it good? I say yes, so much so that I bought two, one blue and one silver (champagne to my eye). I bought the first, found it to be very nice on my 6 1/2 inch wrist, and bought the second within a week. Both fall into my daily wear rotation often. FWIW... I could never own a non-hacking watch. I need the second hand to hit the 12 exactly when the minute hand hits a whole minute. Therefore, the original was never an option for me no matter how cheap.
Nice choices. As far as the hacking goes…I have a couple non hacking (Seikos) and I get your issue. For me it’s like leaving the house without combing my hair. Liberating 😂
I own the og and continue to revisit it often in my line ups. I can't justify purchasing the new version at its price point. The og is just so damn iconic and can upgrade the crystal and bracelet for less then the newer revival
My favorite is the Turtle. I currently have a King Turtle with sapphire glass and a ceramic bezel. Green grenade dial. I love it and hope to add more turtles to my collection in the future.
This watch is the sweet spot for me in the Seiko lineup. $250 gets you 100 meters of water resistance and a newer movement. The sarb003 was great but why would we pay $700 for a movement that may not even be as reliable for a sapphire crystal. This is where modern Seiko falls apart for me. If you’re going to pay that much you might as well spend $200 more to get titanium and the upgraded dial of the Baby snowflake. And who wants to spend $900 when you can get a citizen forza with equal specs for $599 new!!!!! So for me one doesn’t need more than this Seiko 5. It’s only drawback is the lack of sapphire but who cares at this price. I am waiting for an Orient to match the Baby snowflake for less money. I have an old Seiko 5 from 40 years ago and it still works great. I also like the presage sary 055 on the second hand market as this will get you sapphire crystal and perhaps slightly thinner.
I think Citizen has really stepped up its game. And the Sarb line is one of those very special cases…for sure. But you’re right, this new Seiko 5 does hit a sweet spot!
@@threehandhunter Well I'll be honest, I'm just going on styles, I have 3 Monsters, 1 Presage (JDM) and a JDM Biker style quartz. I've yet to buy a 5KX I may get one this Christmas!
I don't know why Seiko put display case backs (on both of these). My first ever Seiko was a 5 automatic like this but with silver dial, back in 1986 (i think). Such a solid watch, and that didn't have a display case back
@@ekekonoise because these movements aren't that special to look at and a solid case back is in keeping with the ethos of this design and model range.....in my opinion anyways
those old bracelets are so comfortable because they are so loose. i have a 40 years old ricoh with what we call today a cheap terrible a bracelet and it feels like im wearing nothing. i blame youtubers and other reviewers for this, they always complained that bracelets feel cheap and jangly and such and now everyone makes rigid, heavy bracelets with perfect tolerances that feel exactly how they are, rigid, heavy and uncomfortable to wear. it's a shame because bracelets are the most durable type of strap there is but, for me at least ,from the start i prefer a modern watch be without a bracelet, i would just replace it anyway, i can't wear these modern "good quality" bracelets.
Well, as you can see on the video, I even keep my SKX on the original bracelet too for that reason. I actually had to source it separately. Great comments 👍
I have a black PRX, and I want to get a waffle pattern rubber strap. But I don't want to go black with black. Looking for suggestions: which color rubber strap would look best with a black dial for an casual lifestyle/apparel. Thanks.
Not a fan of those case shapes (Zelos comes to mind, at once), but the mint color is nice. So is the date, when you're on holidays... PS 04:12 Always "open" backgammon (tavli !!!!) case/base. Used as a tray too? 😋Not bad, but you can not smash it closed when dices drive you nuts and game is going really wrong. You miss half of the fun there! 😂
At the start of the video, I thought it felt like a lazy weekend in a Key West bungalow. Towards the middle, I decided it was a 1930's kitchen appliance.😂 Cool piece! The color reminds me of the interior of my 64 Impala!
How did you get the drilled lugs out to change the strap? Just got mine and I would like to do that but I’ve seen multiple ways online. Some say the drilled lugs can be screwed out others say you need a pin to push them out. Any advice? Thanks
Not a great performer, substandard lume, cheap miyota movement, sloppy bezel, non-hackable. It LOOKS really nice though and I wear it at least once a week.
Nice review. I'm in the waiting list for the orange dial. It cant come soon enough. The watches are great looking and the strap options look really good. Ill revisit when it (eventually) arrives.
