Thank you for the explanation. My steering belt was torn but the drive bilt still works and the car is moving but the steering is heavy. Is it possible to walk by car without problems to go to the car technician’s place?
I apologize for not responding sooner, life's been a little hectic lately. 🙃 Yes, you should be fine to drive it to a mechanic. The steering is heavy due to the power steering pulley not turning fast enough to assist. I will say if your car is different than mine, it could have other systems that are driven by that belt as well. As a universal precaution, just keep an eye on the engine temperature gage, and make sure the battery light is Not on when the engine is running. If those things are okay, then you should be good. Drive safe.
Great video! Thank you, I cant believe how simple Toyota made the belt system on this car. I have an 01 and my alternator belt is about to bust. In a way its good the water pump is driven by the timing belt, so if both belts go you can still drive on the battery to safety.
The vehicles launch themselves with their own engines. They put them in gear and pull on a (friction based) ratchet strap attached to the accelerator. The steering wheel is tied off, and a rail is sometimes used to help guide the car off the cliff.

That's a valid point; a long pipe, that's used to guide the cars down a rail and over the cliff, flew off as the car flipped, and it landed about 30 feet from where I was sitting. 😳
How do you take out out the bolts next to the Harmonic Balancer to take out the Belts ? I had a 2001 Toyota Camry 2.2 Liter . I tried taking them bolts out to loosen the bolts but it looks like I have to take more bolts more than two ? I loosen one bolts already .But how many bolts should take out to loosen the belts .?.
"EDITED"...That little powersteering belt is tricky. It's possible to remove the belt by loosing just the 12mm tensioning bolt with an 8" extension from the wheel well, but a small hammer may be needed to move the slide. There is a pivot bolt that can be loosened from above, but you have to remove the passenger side "Dogbone" and side engine mounts first to get to it. (the bolt is at the tip of the triangular plate). (The alternator belt has to be removed as well, in order to slip the power steering belt over the harmonic balancer.)
Here's a tip... when re-tightening the belt, I wedge a 18mm or 19mm wrench in the adjustment slide between the bolt and the edge while tightening the bolt with a ratchet. Make sure you get the belt tight enough or it will squeal. Believe me I know.🙄
@@Fireweed59 So if I loosen the tensioning bolt through the wheel should that loosen the belt ? Because I loosen up 2 bolts in there so far the very top bolt is very tough to loosen .But if I do does that going loosen the belt ? Or you have to do it in the back where you did your approach it from the top of the engine ? Iam just changing the belt .nothing else I had a Toyota Camry 2001 2.2 Litter 4 Cyl . I already went down in the car where my friend told me to loosen the bolt in the back which I cannot reach even bellow down there So I think the top where you did yours is the only choice. You said in the back there was only 2 bolts can you tell me what bolts do I have to loosen ? Thank you for the reply I appreciate it
