I have been listening to jazz guitar for 20 years and I think this video is brilliant. Both soloing and comping from either players.I don't understand why would anybody comment "it feels bad" on this video.
Let me explain what I mean by "feeling unpleasant." For example, suppose you participate in a jam session for amateurs. When a musician you're playing with performs at an incredibly high level, far beyond what you'd expect from an amateur, don't you feel that this person is "unpleasant" to be around in this context? Don't you think, "Please perform with the professionals; we just want to enjoy playing as amateurs..."? In other words, I want you to understand that when I say "feeling unpleasant," it is not meant to insult Mr. Shimomura, but rather to paradoxically praise his extraordinary musical talent. What do you think? He does seem unpleasant, right?
