Even for bavarian mechanical engineers easy to understand. Thank you for sharing you knowledge and also explaining failures due to misalignment of the reading head.
Two signals are not needed to determine the direction. One signal with a reference point ( starting point of the encoder bar )is suffice. The reference point is 0.Now the position if at 15 is the middle and 30 is the end, then based on the deviation from the reference point we can determine whether the direction is towards or away.
its not really, in the case of magnetic scales, a Reed switch could be used as the sensor, but even then, its more of a play on words than an accurate name. Now since his video is all about optical encoders, I haven't the slightest clue why he would call the encoder sensor a "Reed Head"...yah its trivial, but it bugs me.
Dude this is the best instructional video i seen. Very clear and precise. I'm usually very picky but this one is good. Keep up the good work and i hope to watch more of your videos. Very useful. Subscribed. Thanks.
