We are Kirt & Jen, a nomadic family of four that travels full time in our newly self-converted DIY RAM 5500 Box Truck Expedition Vehicle that we refer to as “Macho” (think EarthRoamer on a budget!). We've recently upgraded our rig from a Promaster 3500 Van that we spent over a year traveling in. We originally hit the road in Jan 2021 when we sold everything we owned including our 12-acre home and farm in East Tennessee after coming to the realization that our relationships with each other and our influence over our children were more important than the money we made or the things we bought. So, we pursued an alternative lifestyle that allowed us to bond as family, explore God’s Green Earth, and raise our kids the way we see fit. We invite you to join our journey and be part of our family!
Wow this was great! Thank you for sharing all the ups and downs with us. I agree, it is definitely in the struggles where we find our true nature and learn to press on and grow resilience and pride in our abilities as a team! You guys are growing such a strong family unit and that is an essential strength to pass on to children and bystanders alike. Good job you guys!
It cannot be used for those. Use a friend or family address for the physical address. Then you can have the mailing address to your PMB so your friend or family never gets the mail.
really inspiring , thank you so much ! I made it to Alaska ! i'm in tok , headed to Palmer , gonna check out the seward area , then Denali , hoping to hit the Tuck : before heading back to the lower 48 by Sept. ~peace~
I really enjoy your video style. Food, trucks, calamity, and family. It all adds up to some great entertainment. Just wondering, how many miles are you getting out of the Continentals and any other military style tires you’ve tried?
Thank you! Continental are a great tire just don’t get many miles out of them. Probably around 20-25k. Had the Goodyears and had a blowout. Goodyear bought all of the tires back. The only other option is Michelin but impossible to find them.
Hi, I just found your channel and it's very timely. I heading out on a solo road trip in 25 days from Vermont to Canada and Alaska. First up the Dempster to Tuktoyaktuk & the Arctic ocean and then on to AK for a few weeks. The AK part of my trip includes flying from Farbanks to Bettles for a 3 day stay and a trip into Gates of the Arctic & Kobuk Valley natioanl parks. From fairbanks then traveling down to Jasper & Banff natioanl parks before finally making my way back to Vermont. My road ride is a 2021 RAM 1500. I'll be watching your video series about your adventures! 🐻
@@OverlandUncharted Hi, I just finished watching all 3 parts of your Dempster journey. I’ve been planning this trip for 11 months and have watched a Lot of videos about this road and yours was by far the most fun and enjoyable to watch. You definitely have a great attitude and appreciate that this trip was both the destination and the journey. I’m now retired after 45 years in hospital laboratory medicine and a complete national parks geek. I’ve been to Alaska four times, lived in Sitka for a year, lived in New Mexico for 25 years and now have been in Vermont for 22 years. This trip will be my 2nd long distance road trip to Alaska and Canada and I am so ready to as Willie Nelson said, be On The Road Again!. Safe and happy travels for your family and look forward to the next adventure video. 🐻
I would love to know more about your rig! I watched all of your conversion videos. What did it cost to do it all? Any regrets? I saw some clips of you being at Overland Expo and things you’ve learned. Any intent on making a video about all of this? It’s such an awesome setup!
Hello there! Welcome to our channel and thanks for your support!! Currently we are putting together videos from our time in Alaska last summer, got so much footage that needs to be gone through so we can get on with other projects, haha! Building Macho was a crazy time! You can learn more here: www.overlanduncharted.com/macho-features Feel free to reach out to us on IG or FB if you have more personal questions :)
We were up there last fall, and it was right around the NWT sign that the wind ripped the door from my hand and overextended it forward. The roller busted right out of the channel! Good thing the door still closed, but I had nothing stopping it for the remainder of the trip!
Great entry to the series. Looks like a true north country experience. I just had a thought: you guys have come quite a ways since starting the truck build back in the desert while staying in the ABNB! 😳😄 thanks for sharing guys!
I live in Alaska and am building out a Ram 5500. I noticed that you have used both the Goodyear G275's and Continental MPT81's. Do you have a BLOG somewhere where I can read about your choices of tires and why? Thanks for the great content!
Oh boy, that's a great question. No blog, but happy to discuss it further in detail with you. Are you on IG? DM us over there. Avoid the Goodyears at all costs, at least in 335s biggest reason being safety. They recently were de-rated for the weight. We had a sidewall blowout going 60mph and many others have had the same issue. Surprised there isn't a lawsuit.
Always glad to see when Overland Uncharted posts videos. We know it’s a lot of work but all of us appreciate what you guys share with us. Looking forward to the series!
I'm learning a lot from your adventures, Alaska is on my bucket list, 2025? Just wondering, did you need to air down on those dirt roads or just ran on the standard psi? Thanks for sharing your travels and stay safe.
Oh yes, we aired down but we can't go way low because of our weight. Mind you we are stock suspension but the big tires really help smooth the ride out. Thanks for watching! Happy to answer any other questions- find us on IG @overlanduncharted
I'm a grown-A but almost shed a tear watching that'll little boy let his Clifford go but the pizza made me as happy as it did him. Awesome content, I'm loving the channel!

I love your family and watching your journey. You guys are so brave. What an adventure for the kids. Be safe out there. Keep us posted about your travels. Kelly, from Shangrila.
Thanks for watching! We kept a healthy distance and weren't disrespectful to the waters or land. As always, leave no trace means leaving the place better than you found it. We always try our best to be mindful of this.
