If you’re looking for tips and advice on how you travel the world longer, relocate to Europe, embrace van life without spending tens of thousands of dollars, or plan for your first (or 50th!) Camino de Santiago - you’ve come to the right place.
We started Days We Spend with a simple goal - to share how we spend our time while traveling the world. Then a funny thing happened.
You guys started following along. And you had some questions.
In 2021, we turned our Honda Element into a micro RV. We've walked across Spain multiple times, traveled around the world for a year, and in 2023 we made the leap to move to Spain full-time on an Non-Lucrative Visa.

Thank you for your video. Although the video is a bit promotional, it is very helpful The insurance works and I got it in 2 clicks, instead of waiting for a week. Then got my visa. The website is a bit too simple for insurance companies, especially compared to the German version. And by the way, we will be living in Ourense soon :)
You guys are cute and funny, thank you for those very helpful Camino tips on what to expect during different times of the year. I just retired a few weeks ago and so now I'm doing my due diligence on this topic which my wife expressed interest in doing and which seems pretty interesting. My wife will be retiring in 2025 and then we will likely do the Frances later in 2025 or 2026.
Thanks ! Love your videos, btw. I’ve done two Frances, 1 partial in ‘19 and did the whole enchilada spring of ‘23. I recently did a two part series at a local hiking shop in Tucson, AZ where i live and recommended “Days” as a resource for more info on various Camino’s so hope it helps you guys with traffic. Love your energy, silliness, joy and videos, so much! Not sure why more people don’t date their video, but it really helps with weather / packing, etc for different seasons. But, anyway, thanks for what you do!
Brilliant Brain Power!!! - No Build, But All Brains. I love your problem solving and efficiency. This post made my week, month, year!. I can't wait to trick out my Honda Element with some of your tricks. Thank you both so much for making a great video and sharing in perfect detail. -Camp Jane California
Best time to walk the Roman wall is after dinner with full moon, when I was in in Lugo everything to fall into place it was so memorable, thanks for the memories❤
Did you raincoats keep you dry in that downpour? Scary cows. 20+ people are killed by cows each year in the U.S. and we don't even have bullfights! Glad that ended ok.
I also did this (6days) San Salvador in 2022. It started in Madrid to Sahagun , then Francis to Leon, then San Salvador, then Primitivo to Santiago. What a combo camino! Very spectatular and difficult for me the little old lady. I do recommend your videos to new camino pilgrims I meet in Australia. Yes Aquarius is refreshing. Pilgrimage teaches me everything and gets me closer to God. When I get home I love home even more. Love your efforts. Miki
Great video! What are the possibilities of stealth camping along this trail? Not asking you to endorse that, but I’d seriously rather set up camp wherever possible than stay in a moldy albergue.
Thank you! We definitely don't endorse camping; wild camping is illegal in Spain. There are options to change the stages. Stay in Buiza and Pajares. There's also the guest house in Pola that has rooms when it's open.
Mont cooo-k. Not mont cul. LOL I've been rewatching your videos and getting info to prepare for le chemin next spring. I don't know why you walked it in August of all months. So hot. You guys are brave.
Hahaha. French is tough! We walked in August because our friends chose that date. They wanted to walk from Le Puy to their wedding in Santiago and those are the dates they chose. It was worth it.
@@DaysWeSpend I'm sure it was. Looks it. I'm sure the wedding was spectacular. I'll do the Podiensis and then the camino norte (2 months). I did the camino Frances in 2010. Time to go back. I'm in Montreal, so French is a bit easier for me. ;-)
Wow this looks amazing!! I love an ultralight dinner tour <3 Every video of yours makes me want to go there. Would love this type of version for the Camino Frances - would love to hit up yummy, filling, affordable meals as I walk The Way
Best camino video ever, it was hard and difficult, but you showed how beautiful that land is. From Leon to Pajares to Pola de Elena and Campomanes to Oviedo all those places are part of my family stories
It's an old one that we've had for a few years, the DJI Mavic Mini 2. amzn.to/3ZxlCt9 We don't use a regular case, we put it in a homemade headphones case that way it fits into the lumbar pack.
Yes! What isn't on this video is us trying really hard not to scare the cows and trying to stay away from the mama's and babies. It was a tough spot for us and the cows.
My suggestion would be to watch the sunrise from the hill that if I remember correctly, it's where the Gereja Ayam is located. So you get to see the temple with the sunrise as a foreground. Although catching the sunrise there needs a bit of luck because the area is often foggy.
Your mileage may vary, but I have a few corrections for the build. The links for the pipes for the table are incorrect. Because the dunnage rack legs are 1 in measuring internal opening and the pipes are 1 inch in diameter, they won’t fit. 1/2 inch pipe from Lowe’s did the trick, so elbow joints and flanges should also be 1/2 inch. Not included in the shopping items from WebstaurantStore is the support rails that will actually serve as the tie points to the element. They are called “hangar rails” and I got 2 48 inch rails, one for each exterior facing rack, and 1 18 inch and 1 14 inch to support the rails facing the rear tailgate.
Does the San Salvador follow a different path than the Primitivo? Those cows were scary! 😬 I'm so glad you managed to get away from them without injury!
What a beautiful and challenging camino. Thank you so much for sharing. So inspiring. You two are the best. I am celebrating your happy spirits and how you overcome all obstacles together. Lots of love and always buen camino! 😘
